So how much extra driveline do you think you have
over stock now? You going to throw some flares on it? My experience is the rear view mirror gets covered in mud from the rear tires flinging mud forward.

Not sure how much more driveline is needed yet, want to play around with the rear spring hangers and fix a couple other things before i actually measure for shocks and driveshafts. Not going to add rear flares cause "technically" the tire poke is still road legal, 1 full tread does not stick out past the body or flares

You can't have any tire poke legally in BC, main tread cannot extend past the body

as a particularly charming cop said, " if I spit on your fender, and it drips on the tire"

Its more of a really big grey area, the motor vehicle act is very poorly worded and basically just says spray towards the rear of the vehicle should be minimized. and according to my inspection manual main tread should be fully covered, however on my vehicle the main tread is fully covered but the sidewalls are so big they stick out farther. If the cop really wants to be a di** he could fail me for having a larger exhaust then stock or my doors being harder to open then they were 35 years ago  not kidding thats a law....

On the island you should have no trouble, but on the Mai land they will vi you for any tread poke. Side wall is fine, sidewall tread is fine as well

i still cant believe that with all the full size trucks on the road that have tire poke and no mud flaps. i see the same ford truck every morning that has both and watched him pass a cop on the road and the cop didn't even glance at him. Although the cop was more interested in what i was driving...
Anyone seen that Hummer thats lifted driving around the west shore.. his bumper has to be over legal height and no flaps either... thats what usually bugs me..

My philosophy is keep it clean and don't give them an excuse to stop you. Don't drive around all covered
in mud and crap. Living in Vic probably more picky.

vic isnt too bad, I've been told to get mudflaps but i hate em so i don't. If i added mudflaps in a factory spot at legal height the spray would still miss them

Usually the newer pavement princesses get away with tire poke and bumper height laws. Its all the old rusty beat up 4x4's that get pulled over because they look more unsafe although my cruiser is probably put together better then most lifted cummins out there, cause 12 inch lift blocks and sketchy caster and camber angles are totally safe according to the police.

Well this was supposed to be done by the end of august but its almost mid way through November:lol: however on the plus side my u joint for the saginaw box finally came in. Time to start ripping apart the front end to make it look prettier aswell. Been thinking about doing a battery relocation to the rear to clear up some room in the engine bay and make the thing a little less nose heavy aswell

Actually did something productive the other day. Cut a massive hole in my cross member for the Saginaw box, got some pipe the same size to weld in there aswell so it doesn't look ugly. Still need to cut the pipe down to size though.

Also got around to building a mounting plate for the steering box, of course every hole had to be offset and it couldn't all be flush and easy... Found some scrap material i could use to space off the plate and just ground it down until it all fit perfectly. Just need to trim down the plate now and try to make it look nicer

When you do that job watch out for your bumper... Depending on what style of bumper you have it can be very difficult to replace/remove the sag box if needed.

Make sure you leave at least an extra inch of room. I did mine, then my box died, so I ordered a new one from rock auto, and surprise surprise it was a 1/2 inch bigger. Ended up having to notch the back of my bumper and build a little enclosure to make it all work.

Didn't even think of that, good idea. my plan was to shove the box as far from the front of the frame as i can so there should be extra room.

Ya its a heavy bastard and any extra room you can give yourself you'll appreciate when you're lying under the truck trying to slide it out :)
