After ordering my '18 in Nov, the dealer is scheduled to receive it today...the wait is almost over!

This is my first LC so not sure what to look for during delivery inspection. I mean I know to check the basics, body panels, paint, does everything work, etc. But what about LC-specific things to check/look for? There should be a tool kit, right? Anything else besides that and manuals and jack? Anything to look for specifically when checking mechanicals?

Actually this is my first 4WD vehicle in a long time....had a Jeep Cherokee back in the 80's with "part-time" 4WD, had a blast in the snow with that but am far behind the curve with respect to modern machinery (even though part of the appeal of the LC when I ordered was that it seemed modern and old-school at the same time).

Thanks in advance for any advice.

congrats on the new rig, double check to make sure the trailer harness plug dealeo is on it, it appears they forget to add this at the port sometimes...

Besides the trailer wiring harness at the hitch, I believe there should be another harness provided for connecting a brake controller. Might be in the glove box.

Might be a first aid kit in the back cubby, although I believe they will charge extra for this.

Congrats! *jealous*

I found my wiring harness in that same back cubby door (where the jack is stored).

Bought mine 6 years old, but pretty sure that little door had NEVER been opened. :)

Post some pics when you get it home! The alignment was bad on my '17 and the steering wheel was off to the left. Probably just a sample problem, but worth double-checking on yours. If you ordered one with the rear entertainment screens on the back of the front seats, get in on the group buy for hole covers when you remove them :). My only other advice is to actually read the owner's manual(s). If this is your first 4WD since an '80s Jeep, you've got a LOT of catching up to do

If you got the rear tvs (even thiugh everyone hates them) make sure the headphones are in there. Mine were missing.

I don’t know about the 16+ LC’s but I assume the third row center headrest similarly stows in the back of the seat like the earlier versions. My sales guy didn’t know that and ordered me one which we thought was missing (until I got home and read the owner’s manual and found it).

Thanks all. I did not go for the rear screens and I should've mentioned that but thanks. Good points about the trailer wiring and brake controller harnesses so I'll be sure to look for those.

I d/l'd the owners manual and have been going through it but it's kinda hard without the truck sitting in front of me so I can put my eyeballs on things. I went through the settings and noted the options that only the dealer can set and I think the only change I want off the bat is to have the remote roll the windows down.

One thing I did notice when going through the manual - there is no RSCA OFF button. And no mention of it that as an option in any of the settings. Is that a big deal when you're off road? Do most of you turn off the curtains?

That's interesting. Any '16+ owners confirm?
The '08-'15 have RSCA buttons. I haven't used mine (I usually forget) and I've been at some very tippy angles in Moab and some other local trails.

My 16 has it.

Yeah I downloaded the '17 manual just to be sure, and it's in there. Not in the '18. Here's a shot from an '18 off the web.

Hey but you have auto mirrors :D
lol. Since mine will be a mall cruiser for a while that probably works ok. Still, even though I'd not likely use it, I'd like to have the option not to use it. Oh well, I also get a power liftgate :)

Tell them you want their oldest, most knowledgeable salesman to actually perform the "delivery" to you, one that knows the most and can go over all the features with you, in your new car. Not necessarily the salesman that you ordered it through. I don't know how well Toyota dealerships do on this.

At the dealership we bought our 16 at there are only 2 salesman trained on the LC and could deliver it. Not sure if that's true but what we were told

LOL Can't find a single LC trained salesman or mechanic near me at any dealerships. The fools at the dealer I bought from thought they sold me a Sequoia. NOT a joke, literally sent me a couple thank you emails saying thanks for the purchase of your new Sequoia and then emailed asking if I had friends who wanted a sequoia like mine because they just got another in. Needless to say I got a great deal on the truck, just funny.
