Good morning - I posted on here a few weeks back when I was looking at a Sequoia. I appreciate those who helped me.
Turns out my wife tripped upon a beautiful '99 LC 100 with 218k miles on it just 15 min from our house. We picked it up on Friday.

The truck is in great shape and I'm very happy with it.

We're trying to figure out a way to keep it in our garage, but it might not be possible. Since it will be our third vehicle and not a daily driver at this time, I'm looking for recommendations for covers. I've looked around online but wanted the opinion of those who actually own the vehicles.

Thanks,
Mike

That’s a really nice ride. What size tires are on it? Also, Did the 1999 model not have the plastic bumpers on the doors and fenders or did the previous owners remove them?

Agree. Looks much better without the plastic moulding.

Well, I guess I was manifesting my own luck. My wife, on her own, told me it should live in the garage and gave me permission to "declutter" some items, so we can close the thread on the cover.

As for the plastic bumpers on the doors and fenders - the previous owner must have removed them.

Nice truck! Curious about some of the details, which are not stock:
- De-roofrack'd. AFAIK, all early US 100s were sold with factory roof racks, so at some point yours was removed. I'd check the mounting points just to ensure they have been sealed up correctly - that's a direct path for Florida rain
- Running boards seem to be from an LX? I believe the LC running boards were not body colored
- Chrome handles and mirrors?
- The aforementioned body strip delete.

Some of this may have been dealer-done, but dealers are usually adding things, not removing. I actually dig the de-cluttered, longroof look - you might consider removing the rear air diffuser and the running boards as well.

FWIW I'd avoid a car cover in FL. I know lots of people do it, but the risk of trapping humidity and growing mold outweigh the minimal sun protection.

Thanks for the call-outs.

I know I'm the fourth owner, it lived in California and Texas prior to coming to Florida where I bought it.
I do know the previous owner had it repainted, so the roof rack and stripe were most likely removed at that time; he also removed all badging and only re-applied the Toyota logo.

It is rust free though, which is good.

I only verified that there is no damage to the weather stripping which covers the roof rack mounting points, but I did not pull them up to see if they were silicone sealed.

Fortunately, the cover topic is resolved thanks to my wife acquiescing and allowing it to live in the garage.

That's not weatherstripping. It's a decorative cover over the roof panel seam - water flows underneath it. There should be 6 little rectangular plastic plates in the mounting locations that you can pop off and see a pair of roof rack mounting points under each. Each one should have a screw with a dab of sealant under its head.

The tires are E rated Mud Claw Extreme MT. I might swap them out after getting the fluids changed since it will be a highway vehicle mostly.

Congrats on the fleet addition and your advanced negotiation skills to get the parking slot in the garage... :)

I wanted to give a shout out to CoverKing for good quality and well fitting "custom" covers. I've used them for my LC and a few german sedans (Audi, BMW, & two Mercedes), always a good fit and I even helped them improve their template for my BMW convertible. They were pretty easy to work with when the cover they sent didn't fit right, I took some pics and they reworked it and sent a replacement under warranty.

CoverKing has a few different fabric options, so you can choose what is appropriate for your climate.

I have a Covercraft "WeatherShield HD" that goes on when I'm not driving it for a few weeks (and only immediately after a good wash). Pricey but they have sales from time to time.
