Take a look at your vin number and see if it came from the factory with a 3B or a VM,the windshield wiper motor you have was commonly used on the VM 12V BJ73's not the 3B 24V ones.

My vin number starts BJ73, would the VM engine one be different? Is there a vin decoder that would help? The car is in Portugal and 12v, quite possibly assembled here. When I started looking with my modest budget I was going to get one with a VM engine and decent bodywork with a view to changing the engine at a later date then this one came up with the 3B. There are a few around with 3Bs but most with either 5cyl VMs or later 4 cyl VMs and I have seen a couple with 2LTs as well. Its quite a steep learning curve and all relatively new to me

Does it starts as JT1VBJ73..... or are there different letters in the front? Toyo DIY vin lookup is a great tool to look up how and where your Cruiser came in to this world.

Very interesting and thanks for the link. Yes, it starts: JT1VOBJ73 and Toyo diy gives it as a 3B, europe market, completely buily unit. From that I guess it was built in Japan? Just found a copy of the original registration certificate which says 3431cc engine

Hello,

JT1VOBJ73 indicates built in Japan by Toyota.

Your turbo setup looks aftermarket, and your engine appears to be a 3B, at least by the look of the head cover. In fact 3431 cc is the engine displacement.

Some creative plumbing on it, though.
