Hey Guys

I have just moved to ATL from RDU...came down here from work.
Had lots of fun over the past 3 yrs with Olde North State Cruisers...but time to get plugged into what's going on here locally!

I just hit the 100K mark and I'm in desperate need of new brakes! I called the dealership, but it's $400 for new pads + resurface.
Any recommendations on some other shops to quote - I haven't heard good things about Just Brakes...

Also - are there any Dealerships that sponsor the club for discounted parts in case I want to do it myself?

Let me know what's the word and hopefully I can get up w yall before too long (don't think I can make the Chocco (sp?) trip this month...just moved down last week!)

Here's an older pic of my ride at Uwharrie 2 years ago or so.

DIY for about $300

Not sure if you want to tackle yourself, but they are not that difficult.
I spent about $40-50 each on rotors from autozone
Carbon metallic pad from autozone $60?
Misc. stuff $10.
Total for front about $170
just an fyi, if you do just pads up front, its super simple (1 hr job max) without rotor resurface.
Rear
about 30each for Drums from Napa and $30 for the shoes and $15 each for new piston assemblies
Total for rear about $130 est.
I also put on SS lines in front not cheap.

All total, it was about $360 with the SS lines.
I am sure there are cheaper options.

IMHO, get factory pads, if the rotors arn't warped then skip resurfacing. What part of Atlanta? I put a big dent in my 60's skid on that hill at Uwharrie. Cruiser dan or Ralph Hayes over near clemson for discounts.

Welcome to ATL! whereabouts???

x2 on above, if resurfacing is not needed just throw some pads in there. 1 bolt, pull back the caliper and slide 'em in there, my last brake job took 15 mins.

As far as sponsors, man we've tried!!! Seems all the Toyota dealerships are either too busy for us or don't care so RH is a good source for OEM parts.

After Chocco is Beasley Knob (see the website for location details), steep and tight trails in places. It likes to eat my truck for some reason.

Jared,
Welcome to GA. I concur with the advice the guys have already given you (if the rotors are not warped or run-out, leave them a lone for now). If the pads on a FJCruiser like those on a LC, you are infor a treat. The design is very simple and user friendly making it a very easy DIY.

Thanks Guys!
I'm living w my inlaws til our house sells in RDU (hopefully it will go quick!) - Near St Ann's off Marietta Hwy/Roswell Rd
I'm working up off Satellite @ Sugarloaf behind the Kroger...but am out and about every day between customers

I figured I'd could just knock the brakes out...but at the same time am super busy getting up to speed at work, and looking at houses on the weekend, helping w our 5mo old twin boys etc - so figured it'd be easier just to pay someone.

I work for G2 - we primarily sell board level HW - so any HW engs out there...we need to hook up!

Well if your looking in Gwinnett, they have a really good multiples club (my girls are 8) . We were crazy enough to move from Charlotte while my wife was 6months along! Let me know if you need any recs in this area for housing.

I will be happy to give you a quote on the brake work. We are in the Decatur area. Give the shop a call at 404-508-4800.

Thanks
Michael
