Welcome to the addiction! I chatted with you and the guy from SSS at FJ Summit about his GX and we were staying in the Condo above theirs. I had my 80 series there and now I'm also thinking of trading out of my 80 series in favor of a GX. Your truck looks great!.

ok cool yeah ... we talked to you guys in the parking lot ... thank you! ... Having alot of fun with this new hobby ... Iv always been into Motor sports of some kind but you dont get to use those vehicle very offten you just pour money into them and drool over them lol ... atleast with 4wheeling you get to drive your investment daily lol :steer:

I can't wait to see it! I know he had some concerns over the swing out design. Is he going to attach the tire carrier to the door?

I too am new to the scene. I just picked up a 2007 Ash-blue-mica (but I like your interior better). I had plans to build it into a trail beast but, after driving it for a few days, I may be falling for it as-is. Perhaps it's just too nice to thrash? I will be following your build with much curiosity and envy. I'm especially jealous of your metal-working skills, the only thing I've ever fabricated are stories about sexual exploits.

Just curious.......how much did you pay? I did a year of research on an LX 470 and then switched course at the last moment to a GX. WAY less familiar with pricing. I got my 2007 with, tow package, luxury package and 119k miles for 14.9. It was a one-owner, regularly maintained, california car. Mechanically everything looks great, no rust at all, but the vehicle needed a detail and the CD changer is broken. Just hoping I did all right.

That seems to be a pretty solid price. I paid $18,400 for my 07 Sport in January 2015. It was clean, 103k.

NICE. I would have preferred your setup and price but I couldn't find any Sport models (I only looked for a week or so). We shall see how things pan out. It seems like there are quite a few people targeting this first generation GX, that seems like a good thing. I really prefer the look over the second generation.

yeah he figured out away to take the wobble out of the rear tire carrier as well as have the door and swing arm open in unison ... its pretty trick and so much more convenient!

Thank you Chreesto ... It is swanky rig to imagine off-roading ... but it does offer the best of both worlds ... A luxury daily driver vehicle with land cruiser capabilities ... packed with a V8 ... at a price far from its debut im not afraid to beef it up and go have some fun ... im not gonna be doing any thrashing though ... iv still gotta drive home

and yes id say you did very well ...i paid 14,320 w/ 109k miles and it was a FL car which def shows on the under carriage... all other i found averaged about 16K ... and much more metal work to come ...
Being a Fabricator your only as good as your creativity and common scenes .... other than that its just a matter of doing it and practice ... you gotta burn some wire and make some mistakes .... kinda like sexual exploits

what determines the sport model? ... did the dark grey interior only come in the sport?

I'm glad to hear I didn't get ripped-off. I violated several of my own rules making this purchase. Didn't feel like I had done enough research and had no idea about the maintenance. I've done a bit of amateur sleuthing, however, and found out that it was very well-maintained. Synthetic every 5000 and Timing belt kit done at 92K. Too bad you're not in california, our 470s could be trail twins.

The sport model has the dark grey interior, different light covers (I think) and, most importantly, KDSS.

Ah yeah it is the sporty model then but i don't think i have the head light covers

Thanks! I looked for a few weeks and flew from Phoenix to Albuquerque to get it, haha.

The Sport model has black wood trim (this is someone else's pic):

On a serious note, Disneyland is pretty freaking awesome. My kids love that place. Are GX 470s allowed at the FJ summit? I just checked out the website and it looks awesome.
