Hey just wanted to drop in say hello ... Just purchase and 05 GX470 ...

Im 30yrs old , From Louisiana, been a metal Fabricator for 17yrs (domath) , Married, 3 children (4yo,3yo,&8mo)..

First time owning a Toyota , SUV, or anything other than Chevy Silverado for that matter (banjosplayinginthebackground)..and its taking a lil time to adjust but I do love the vehicle (ificouldjustfigureoutwhatallthesebuttonsdo)...
I decided to buy the GX after going to FJ Summit 9 ... if you were there, I attended the event with my friends at Southern Style Speed so we may have met ... But a week after returning home i decided to trade in my 08' duramax for a 05' GX ... For financial reasons and bc I'v fallen for the offroad hobby and i think its something i can include my family in ...
I have big plans for the GX ...Lots of add ons being shipped to me to bolt on soon...

I have started a new build thread on a new build specific social media site a friend of mine has started ... if you wanna see what im working with ...--> http://www.followmybuild.com/CaT-LiN/LEXUS-GX470-The-Gentleman

i'll probly start a BUild thread here aswell ... And yes Iv already named my GX ... "The Gentleman" ... bc in a conversation with a friend "it really is the gentleman's off-roader" was said and it stuck with me lol

Best color choice out there for a GX but im biased haha welcome!

Haha, +1 on the color. Welcome to the forum!

Looking good. It felt sooo good to plastidip my grill and emblems. I just like turning it from fancy to "a rig"

Hello from NOLA. I don't drive a GX but I have one in the driveway that I'm doing some maintenance(TBELT/WP/RAD/transfercase oring) to. They are great vehicles. I had an avalanche(GM) before and it just didn't really do it for me. Then I started working for lexus, now I own LX450, ES300, GS300 and a LC100. LOL

Yeah actually I removed the plasti dip from the grille today ... I messed it up when I did it ... then try to remove it ... realized it was too thin so I tried to fix it ... so goo gone and a presure washer later it back to stock so I can start over ...
The plan is to plasti dip all chrome trim and the center of the hood ...
top tip on plasti dip ... when in doubt lay it on thick

You sir! Have the best interior/exterior color combo available. Looking forward to your build!

Are there any Louisiana based clubs that get together for meets or rides ?

I'm new to the off road scence. I came from driving low cog cars with wide sticky tires lol. If you find a group that rides let me know. There is a regional section and I know they have a social club but I haven't seen anything about a ride.

MetalTech is doing a group buy (it ends soon) for sliders, if you want to jump in before it's over. $90 off.

That's awesome, man! Figured you probably knew of them but thought I'd ask anyways. Came across their site randomly one day. Probably the closest expedition type shop to Mobile. Everything here is geared towards pretty boy trucks and your typical mud riding. Look forward to seeing how your 470 comes together!

if you have any questions, need anything or need any contact with the guys at SSS let me know ... they are starting to grow more and more
