Hey guys, New to the potluck on the trail thing. Does one bring something that is an all around dish or something specific...i.e. meat, salad or vegies. I see ham in a bag and some taco salad. Do we bring our own stove to heat it up if it is a hot dish? Just curious on the supplies to bring with me. The sanctioned run I went on years ago there was a bbq that was provided as well as breakfast for the group. Not this time I am assuming. Any suggestions?
I am looking forward to it.

Also....

When I was there before there was access to the Smith river. Is there still? It would be nice to drop my hose in the water and have a hot shower.

For the potluck, some people bring salad type dishes, some go all out and BBQ ribs in camp.... :D MMMM... Bring whatever you want, and I'm sure we'll have a good dinner. Yes, it's a feed yourself thing for the rest of the weekend, except sat night potluck. Yes you can drive to the river, but technically it's not good to have your shower that close to the river. Soap in river = not really good....

Can't drive to the river any more, very large obstacles were installed to prevent boony bashers from ruining anything else!

Thanks for that dinner info. I figured the only group meal was the dinner.

How far is the waters edge from where we can get. If I remember correctly when I was there last is about 100' or so, maybe further. I also have some enviro friendly soap that I use when in the woods. I'll bring a couplel of buckets just in case. It's very cool set up.

Oh yeah very accessable, you just can't drive right up on it. A couple of the camp sites are 20-30' up to 100' or so.

There will NOT be a informal run of the McGrew Friday morning, not enough takers. I will be running the FS road into Sourdough Camp on Friday to setup, hangout, swim and enjoy a cold one or two. I will be running up to O'Brien for the sanctioned run early Saturday morning. There should be a few different people heading in on Friday at different times if you need someone to follow. I plan on heading in late morning and would be happy to take anyone in that wants to go at that time, just shoot me a PM or post up.

I will see some of you Friday and the rest Saturday.

Six dozen Kumamoto oysters have been ordered for thurs delivery to my house. Hope there's a few how will do the 'gulp'. I'm bringing a table and maybe some lemons. If you want some exotic sauce, that'll be up to you.
Tally-hoe,

p.s. and I'm assuming from all the chatter that Garett is bringing the browines:D eventhough I'm the one from Humboldt County(you know, the Emerald Triangle:p)

Yummy Russ!

although I do perfer mine off the Que...

Picking up shirts today, (OK, the wife is) and I drive home Thursday night, pack fast, and leave Friday morning for Jeffs place.

probably no dash plaques...

sometimes a very routine process can take a turn for the worse... as is the case with dash plaques this year. Our order had some issues and the cost simply got exorbitant, forcing me to cancel the order.

Consequently, no dash plaques this year unless something dynamic happens by the vendor.

Sorry about that.

No plaques? Who do we talk to for a refund? :D

Just let the pinstriping be a reminder of the wonderful run.

movement by the vendor has allowed plaques. No worries.

Are we there yet?

Rolled in from Florida at 3 AM today. Whew, that was close. Popped in here briefly to see how things were shaking ... since I had to leave Tony holding the bag unexpectedly. All looks well. He might not call me a "great friend" any more, but he is GREAT

Just confirmed all is still go w/Forest Service, but campfire status still can't be confirmed until late tomorrow. As always, if that gets the green light, consider it a blessing.

OK ... now I better get my butt moving to catch up to all of you. Looking forward to another memorable event

FJ Trail Team confirmed rolling into Oregon now & on their way.
