Just picked up my first FJ45, it's a 64 tittled as a 65. Long wheel base. No bed, but no rust and no metal work on the rest of it. Has a tired old 283 motor in it with a saddle mount conversion but no other mods

Nice truck to start with. My vote would be for a stock bed.

John,

It's a Cream Puff; better shape than the '65 I just bought but mine included a semi-hacked bed. Did Donnie ever sell his 45?

Hey Bob,

No, he did not sell it but I think he is ready to, he got hurt in a MC wreck and could probably use the cash. I regretted not buying it myself before I moved. His truck is awesome. If you want to buy it, PM me and I'll get him to get realistic on the price. I have a ton of pics of his truck if you want them. Donny is an awesome guy, he also has a bunch of OEM parts for the truck too.

Congrats on your 45 as well, I saw your post in the CLCC forum.

I have been giving your son Ryan's contact info to everyone who needs work, Dave said he did kick ass work. Tell him that my friend Steve needs a bunch of stuff fixed after he already paid someone else to do it. I told him to call your son.

Have fun with your new truck.

John, that DOES look good. I'm gonna have to come by and see that next week or so. I should be down that way delivering another workbench to the fireman.

If the cab weatherstripping was replaced at the time of painting, you are WAY AHEAD there!

Oh, and I might have an answer on the trans tomorrow.

If we end up welding the new motor mounts in at the shop, that will be THREE RED FJ45 project vehicles in a row!

THanks for the link.;)

Nice buy. I was trying to get a friend of mine to buy that but he is as broke as I am. I talked to the PO in El Monte and seemed like a pretty cool guy. I may be interested in any other parts you may be getting rid of. Orange45 knows or knew of a pretty rusted up bed about a year or so ago. I think it was in Bakersfield. Might give him a shout.

That was Andy's. He sold it on Ebay earlier this year. $900 or so IIRC.

John,

I've thought about Donnie's 45 on and off since I saw it about a year ago. I was thinking about it again when a friend offered to sell me his 45. Donnie's truck is nicer than the one I bought, and I prefer SWB, but it was just too pricey for me to swing. If Donnie's getting rid of spare parts, please have him give me a call/PM/e-mail.

Thanks for giving Ryan a hand, we both appreciate it.

.... you need some early round turn signals on that baby.:grinpimp:

John's got a list.........and I'm beginning to look a bit like Santa Claus!;p

Oh, I've got a list...need to buy a bunch of parts and sell a bunch as I have no storage here where I live.

Here are two more pics.

Lot's of the trucks I've owned back home were rusted out in the cowl, nice to have such a clean truck. Even though it's not perfect, I'm psyched.

ya did good, great start to what will be a great 45! :)

Nice 45! Do you plan on cutting or welding on it when you install the v8? This vintage of 45 pickup is rare. Keep it stock. it's too nice.

Trust me, I'd prefer that, as I used to be an all stock kind of guy, but my knee has not put up with a clutch for more than 10 years now, so it's got to be either a V8 or no FJ45. This truck already had a V8 in it so there was some welding done waaay back in the 60's by the orginal owner so at least I am not taking apart a pristine truck.

I was talking to a good friend today about if I would wheel it or not, and I said yes, but then I came home and looked it over again and had second thoughts about it as I doubt that I'd find another this clean.

Thanks for the compliments, the more I look it over the more psyched I am to have found it.
