i forgot to add that when i'm in fourth gear at those speeds i'm usually accelerating to get into the fifth gear which gives you economy as it's an overdrive gear and so acceleration is louder than cruising usually. That's why you can hear it in fourth.

also, the startup sound bite...that's not distorted. That's how it sounds. Yes i am serious!! It (the sound bite/grab) does sound distorted, but it's not. Imagine that V8 with performance cams and all the mega-$$$ bits and pieces and the exhaust!

looks good mate, same set up as my oldmans uzj 3" with high flow cats and pacemakers. i bet it sounds nutz,Old man was happy but wanted a little more noise so when he was at work one day i took it back to the shop and got the middle muffler deleted should have seen his face next time he started it ..priceless ,he likes it now better and still no drone

haha Clint that's good! unfortunately i'm in the 'burbs of Melbourne and the law is everywhere. They are ok. We also have the "wanna be cops"...the Vic Roads Traffic guys....fek....

They'll defect your car/truck if you all have is a stone chip on your windscreen if you p!ss them off!

i'll ask Performance Exhaust about the middle muffler when i get back from my trip. But i think i know the answer!
cheers

i didn't make it to Lake Eyre due to me not having a job and people wanting to interview me..i mean i could have made it to Lake Eyre and done telephone interviews...but the modern corporate world (in my line of work) means that you have an interview and some guy/gal sits in and evaluates you (the psycho test) on your responses. So they need you to be physically present in an interview.

Anyway. Last interview is Thursday arvo (afternoon)...maybe i can drive on up there again after that.
I did make it up to outback NSW..i did about 2000km's...and can say the exhaust does not "drone" when i'm in fifth in cruise control at 100km/h. In fact it's pretty much business as usual. So that's good. Down shift to fourth...and yeah...i have a V8 Landcruiser 4.7!!! So i can hear it..hehe....but usually i'm accelerating to get back into fifth as i mentioned somewhere on here.

Conclusions:
  • I have a smile that cannot be wiped off my face!
  • It feels like I have a "new" Landcruiser now.
  • Money well spent.
  • I have both economy and power now....depends on my right boot!
  • Highlights my need to upgrade from the factory suspension to something better.

ps i could have made it to Lake Eyre without a job...i had saved up enough money to last a few months...just to clarify that one!

They're still in the garage, hovering near the top of my todo list but not made it onto the truck yet. When I do get them on I will post results ;)

The Pacemaker headers finaly went on at the start of last week Peter along with a full 'sports' exhaust. All I can say is wow it really woke the motor up a lot!

aah ok.
i'm driving mine in daily traffic to the city (Melbourne) and a manual is a right PITA.
Not what i bought it for. If the trains were reliable and safe i'd do that, but...it's not the case at the mo.

I cant afford a second car, and get all the anti 4x4 ppl sitting up my arse weaving to see if i am the cause of the slow downs or not, and then they get in the other lane and i see them get caught in the traffic and me keep going. :flipoff2:

Gonna get a bumper sticker made "I can see for miles...what's your problem?"
edit: or maybe just "I can see for miles.." and leave it at that :-)
cheers

sign me up for one please! :grinpimp:

which one would you like? And should i incorporate the IH8MUD logo on there somewhere?

I have a mate that used to do graphic design. i'm sure he'd enjoy a change and a challenge.
edit: it will be a transparent background, which is what i like.
let me know

Does anyone know if the factory cats can be cut and welded to fit larger exhaust as in these pictures?

And if yes, has anyone done this to us spec cats?

...obviously i dont have the SuperCharger installed....yet...it's coming....

That explains the exhaust. Looks great, but you will most likely have lost some of the low end torque while it remains normally aspirated. Back pressure isn't a bad thing for an NA 4.7 but it's a power thief in forced induction.

Curious if you're going to do the Bullet HTV1900/Eaton TVS SC???

I am hoping for the one from Bullet Cars so it will be the one on their site which i think is the Eaton.
