New custom transfer case shift knob

With the way the button is connected, and the way everything mounts, i don't foresee an easy way to create this out of a block of aluminum on a CNC machine.

If anyone of y'all can draw up a design that you think would work, let me know and i'll pass it along to him. I asked him about the trans shifter and waiting a response on if he thinks it would be possible.

well in the end wouldnt it just be wires going down?

The main part i am referring to is figuring out if the button to shift gears could be somehow fitted to the aluminum. I didn't take apart that piece, so i don't even know how it fits inside.

would something like this work? i know its a very crude drawing

Just spoke to Joel.
Group buy is a go.
Asked about the shifter handle and he said he just has too much other stuff going on with all of his orders for FJC gear to spend designing the auto shifter, sorry guys.
Also asked him about some kind of extension for those running bigger body lifts (mainly 80 series guys), waiting to hear back his thoughts.

I'll post a thread in the non-vendor merchandise forum either later tonight or tomorrow. I will post a link to it in the first post, so stay tuned.

Also, green as a color might also be available soon. He is doing some testing to see how it comes out.

so if someone else designed it, he would make it?

That would be awesome, looks like what my 4runner has

I do not think there is a way to make it so it works like that? I could be wrong but can you relocate the buttons for OD and shift change?

well from what i understand, these are electronic buttons. you just want the part that competes the circuit. so the buttons themselves can be whatever we want. i think im going to get one milled here at USAFA to see if its possible.
picture always works best.

Lets stop thinking about some rediculously expensive 4spd shifter replacement, and think about the much mo simpo 5spd shifter. Could he do a matching set for T-Case and Transmission on the newer trucks?

RTB, you got enough stuff at the academy to design and produce it yourself.

IIRC, all it is is a simple switch that needs to make contact. I'm not sure of exactly how it works, but it sounds like RTB is diving in to get that figured out.

If we do the leg work and design for him, then he better not charge too much for it!;)

RTB, if you want any help let me know. I'm down for a road trip to the springs once I get my truck up and running again.

If its is the same shifter lever as in the FJ, which also has the A750 transmission, then yes. He already has a bunch from the FJs. Does it have any buttons on it?
Do you have a picture of the shift lever?

Just looked at a pic, if it is just screw on and no OD button, then yes he already makes some that would fit. Can you check the thread pattern/pitch just to double check it is the same as the FJ?

Here is what i had in my FJ Cruiser

If I was to get one, I'd like it to be shorter, and plain black to match the tcase shifter version.

The height really depends on the rod inside. From the top of the shaft, the top of the shifter is less than an inch taller than that on these.
I wanted to shorten mine on my FJC as well. I created a thread showing how i cut the rod, extended the threads down, and this allowed me to mount the shifter about an inch and a half lower.

im missing the most valuable resource, time

The 03+ with the gated shifter has no buttons in the shift knob. Why couldn't we change it for a simple knob like the t-case shift knob above?

Just a note: I have an aluminum shift knob in a black car with black interior and the knob is not friendly to the bare skin in hot weather. But at least the 100 doesn't have a manual transmission where you have to continually shift.
