M416 Trailer complete PICS - North Carolina 4x4 Forum

M416 Trailer complete PICS
I've got a M416 1/4 ton trailer for sale. Adjustable pintle hitch. Needs to be sandblasted and painted, but is solid as a rock. I want $550 for it. It's complete and ready for some paint. I was planning on using POR-15 on it, and probably will if it doesn't sell. I just don't use it as much as I thought I would.
Near Burlington.

[NOT MINE, just posting, it is smaller than the other, might be better for trail use?)

First day back on the job and man it feels good.

Floor work done for now, now for coolant and valve tick check before STR.

looks like I oopsed and didnt get the floor shots posted.

Stock passenger side in decent shape, tack welds separated from floor.
Driver side:  poor attempt at a repair 1x1 open box rusted out, then rusted along it attached length with the floor

So I started picking at the failed mount and it was waaaaaay worse than I had thought and or hoped. Didnt take more than hand pliers to get this far.

then the passenger side with the mount removed

and not my truck but example of rear box section in the 45 cab that had to be dealt with. This is how the damage eluded my initial pre purchase inspection. Floors that you could get to from inside were solid. This rot was hidden on the bottom of the step or box.

So I took Jon's recommendation on a body shop and toted her off to burlington and had some work done. As usual the deeper we dug the more we found so I tried to limit the damage done with limited success but it looks like a solid solution.

The gentleman had a local metal shop water jet a piece to match his template for the back 14'' of the cab floor side to side in the quarters and around the tank well. Then we had a piece the width of the truck cut and bent to make the shape below

l___l

where the top flanges were 1/2'' and the box formed when attached to the new floor section was 2'' deep and 5'' front to back and again the width of the truck.

Inside the box section formed there are 2'' pipes as crush sleeves w/ 3/8'' end plates at the location of the body mounts.

Unfortunately with the cab still on the truck alot of the fancy bent and water jetted ends needed to be cut off to fit the piece in. :( it was hot.
