I have an LJ79 from 1993 2.8 3L engine. Installed new Aisin clutch kit last April but was slipping when climbing hills. Everything else is OK; slave cylinder, master cylinder, hoses, new brake fluid, freeplay etc.

Last week changed clutch again as we thought it was defective but the problem still persists. Don't know what else to look for. Today I noticed an engine mounting that needs replacing. Can that cause the clutch to slip?

No mate engine mount won't cause it to slip.
When you drive the truck where does the clutch start taking up or where is the pedal with travel when the truck starts to move.
My guess would be right up the top of it's travel do you have a manual to explain how to adjust the clutch. There may be a problem with the clutch and slave cylinder being out off adjustment as well.

I would look at your clutch hydraulics to see if they are holding residual pressure and not letting clutch to fully engage. At rest, without pressing the pedal, you can open bleeder at slave cylinder and see if it spills fluid or if the Y-fork moves.

The same thing happened to me once and it ended up being a faulty clutch master cylinder.

Good luck and I hope you find the issue soon.
