Well s***, it is pretty damn close after all!

I give you both two big thumbs up! (pretend these are thumbs and not middle fingers) :flipoff2:

Made some progress today.
I installed the 2nd wing, transition plates, cut the end's off for a redeign (stuck out too far) and ordered the tubing for the winch/headlight guard.
It will be a week or 2 for the tubing to get here but I think I will prime it and run it as it is until then.

Nice yard art!

Pretty welds. Wish mine looked like that. (I do the thick farmer-style welds that'll hold all day, just don't look purdy.)

Tubing came in but was a tad short to make the headlight guards I wanted so I improvised by timming and invertng them.
I tacked them in but thought I would get opinions before welding, soooo what do you think?

My opinion, I don't like the tubing and think it takes away from the really nice shell that you have put together. Keep it simple. Nice work though.

You have an enviable plate bumper there! IMHO the center hoop looks good (if a bit short) but the outer hoops should be shaped a little more along the lines of an ARB to prevent blocking the headlights and provide more protection. I think that would be a winning combination.

But that's armchair quarterbacking from a guy who still has a stock bumper on the front of his 80.;) Time to order me some steel and piss off the bumper community around here.:grinpimp:

I say get rid of the smaller outside pieces of tubing and add smaller supports. If you click on the Rover link in my sig, I had a bumper with a similiar stinger on it. It was a nice point of reference cause I could see it from the driver seat. Also it makes a great place to mount a light bar.

Center hoop is good. Reminds me a bit of the shortbus. Side hoops....dunno.

Thanks for the opinions.
I was hoping to finish and get it painted this weekend.
I think I'll wait another week until I can get some more tubing and come up with something a bit better, maybe some arb style tubes above the headlights lights and keep the center hoop.

Beautiful bumper, very well done! I look forward to seeing it after you revise the tube, should be awesome........

I really like the bumper design, looks stout enough and does not stick out too far.

The tube work grew on me so I decided to keep them.
Also added some bottom plates and tube steel gussets behind the bumper in case I ever get in an accident.

I didn't see if you mentioned it but is the main structure that the winch will bolts to a "bought" piece or did you make it. If it is a bought piece I would like to get one to base my front bumper off of.

Thanks,

E.
