I'm not sure if you've experiences any bending or tweaking out of those "L" brackets? They look a bit on the light side? If you do ARB actually makes some really heavy duty stainless L brackets, 1/4" thick and drilled on the awning side for the spacing between the extruded channels. Makes for a clean sturdy mount that won't bend or deflect in the wind or as you bounce down the road.

I called ARB asking a out the L brackets you mentioned, they said that they did not have any Brackets for Yak or Thule mounts... Do you have a part number? Thanks!

They are not rack specific, they are universal.

I am out of stock of them as of today but am hoping to have a few more in on my next stock order (Friday?). They are an "L" roughly 8" on one side and 4" on the other. The 4" side has holes matching the spacing on the awning extruded aluminum and the 8 side has a handful of holes that allow it to be used in different setups. If I had the Thule or Yakima bars and they extended out far enough to mount the awning on the end, I would drill two holes per load bar and mount the "L" bracket right to them... or make some.

Can't remember ARB's specific part number (not at work computer) but our number is ARBOS3071 so it should be similar to theirs.

Just ordered mine today, been trying to look everywhere to see what kind of brackets it comes with but so far i see people fabbing their own, i was also planning on asking if anyone uses like sand bags to hold it down at feet when out in a desert or large paved parking lot.

im south of Devore in Grand Terrace, did snow reach you last week?

Does anyone know if they make wind curtains or walls for the awning like for a changing room or something? might get a small one for the rear of my rig and attach a bumper dumper, lol lets see who uses it.

Yep, we got a little snow last week.

I've been threatening my wife with getting a bumper dumper for a while!!

If anyone wants the original ARB brackets for this, I bought them and did not use them. You can have them very cheap.
cheers,
J

Now that you have a cruiser, you'll have to come to Surf-n-Turf as well. I'll be bringing a new cruiser that I'm working on out this year.

When is the surf n turf?

I'll jeep an eye out. What forum puts it on?

Argh - for the life of me I can not find a side-by-side pic comparing the Mombasa (very similar to ARB) L mounting brackets to the Baja Rack mounts. I'll take a picture later this week when I have both and post it up. Sorry 'bout that.

But as Curt said, the stock mounting brackets are basic heavy-duty L's. Nothing fancy, just functional. They can be mounted many different ways. BajaRack's mounts are extra beefy and spread the load over a wider area.
