Been a lurker in the 200 section for a bit but picked up a 200 last week after a couple of months of looking - moving up from a 100. Already the 200 section has proven beyond helpful....as I found out that my door lock actuator was out on the drive home from the purchase. I wasn't super happy about tearing apart a 2018 LC on my second day of ownership....but thank you for all the write ups. It works as it should now. That alone was worth a star.

Anyway, on to wheels. I want to get a small build started, starting with wheels and tires. I have spent hours researching threads here and the options seems few. I realize that the Rock Warriors are an ideal replacement wheel. However, I don't love the look of them on a white truck (just my personal opinion). I love the TRD BBS wheels on white and the idea of them being a Toyota wheel but don't like the stance without spacers. And, I am cautious of running spacers after much research here. Obviously many do yet other are strongly against them. What are some thoughts on the SCS Ray 10's with the +25 offset? Is that not accomplishing the same thing sorta? I don't see very many going that way however.

I'm a little ways off from a lift so looking at stock suspension for now. Thanks! Looking forward to gettting to know the 200. So far so good.

You’ll get lots of anecdotes on spacers — not here to change your mind but there are folks on this board who run them hard with zero issues.

Also tons of trucks here running 25mm offset wheels. Generally speaking, any tire 11” and narrower will be fine but will require minor trimming.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not dead set one way or the other. Maybe I've just read through so many different posts on it that I have a wee bit of doubt about it. Or because I don't go through a lot of vehicles (had my 100 as a DD for almost 10 years) and have no experience with them.

Let's say I was to go with an 18" wheel with a +25 offset, I am guessing a 275/70 would fit fine? Any bigger like a 285/70 would get into some trimming?

There's trades and compromises that may or may not help you make your decision.

The SCS Ray10 wheels has lower load ratings than factory:

25mm offset is okay, but a rather aggressive offset that compromise steering geometry / handling, and potentially some fitment issues due to more tire swing rather than pivot.

Yep....thank you for the link. I don't think I want to worry about whether or not my wheels are strong enough while cruising around with the wife and kids. Regarding offset, are you not getting the same aggressive offset that has compromises when running a 1+" spacer?

I’m running Methods with 25mm offset and 285/70r18. Front mud flaps are removed, and you have to trim the fender liner.

17 x 8.5 Icon wheels 25mm offset with 34x10.50 BFG all terrains. Rubs the mud flap a little bit but no big deal.

Do you think you would have to do any trimming with that size with the stock offset? There is only 1 or 2 entries in the tire database of people running that size (at least from what I can tell). A load of folk running 275/70/18 however.

Offset is highly correlated with tire diameter.

1" spacer with my 60mm factory offset wheels puts me ~35mm. Optimal offset would be something like 43mm for my 33.2" tires. So I'm 8mm outside of optimal.

For 25mm offset wheels, I'd encourage you to go with as large diameter a tire as possible.

Spacers are not my favorite but with the correct installation, can be make to word transparently without side effects. I've had them on my rig awhile, and inspecting has not revealed any concerns. I tow near the max 14.5k GCWR rating and it has worked fine.

Most likely. The bigger issue will be the tire rubbing the KDSS arm on the driver's side of the vehicle.

That's helpful, thank you. I am thinking the same for tire diameter - 275/75 - or a slightly bigger at 285/65. And will probably go with the TRD BBS wheels for the peace of mind of being with a Toyota product. I can always add a 1-1.5" spacer when either eventually lifted or am running a taller tire (or both). Sound logical?

Sorry to revive this thread, but I just bought a set of Icon Recon SLX wheels (+25mm offset) and mounted Mickey Thompson Baja Boss 285 70 R17 tires.

I bought the Icon's because I love the look of them and the aggressive stance, but didn't know anything about offset affecting steering/handling when doing so.

If you were in my shoes, would you sell these and get something with more appropriate offset? Don't want to do any unintentional damage to the vehicle.

How are you liking them? Any rubbing? I can’t imagine any damage that would be caused as +25 to +35 is very common setup. I’m thinking of doing the same but instead slx 18x9 +25 275/65/18.
