Nice work

much lower on the awesomeness scale than your own build. . .but, every little bit I do now is that much less I have to do later =)

Hey Shane, She's lookin great!

And I thought I had a bad case of ADD/OCD......

Here's the first of two:

The second one should be in late next week!

That's purdy. How's u get the lettering to come out so good? Painted or is this pc?

PC'd - that why it took an extra week r/t the other parts. Irony: I was thinking today - all of this dress up in the engine bay and watch her blow (pun intended) within the next 500 miles, lol.

and you're going to pull this engine in a year or two. I'll buy that cover off you then. I have a 77 blue FJ40 this would look good on...the engine needs a lot of clean up to get close to Onur's engine.

A little more progress on/in the engine bay:

Firewall, inner fenders and front half of frame to commence this weekend. Woo hoo. . .

Shane

Was that water outlet and thermostat housing powder coated? Thinking of doing mine too...Was wondering if the coating will hold up where the hose clamp goes, it should eh? I tend to worry about every little detail...

Finished with the 2nd coat of POR-15:

Then dropped the tank in preparation for the long-range tank due to arrive this week:

And started more interior work in preparation for a long expected package - woot!

@sschruff ....man, frame looks fantastic! Great work. Should definitely do the same to the rear axle while you're under there. Also, missed this...where are you getting the long range tank from? MAF?

Thanks, man. I have two freshly coated axle housing ready to be built/put in (long story). Also realized from the pics I just posted - didn't get ALL of the frame...where the gas tank was & some of the inside rails.

Yes, getting the tank from MAF. . .along with some SS brake lines.

I'm about aggravated at present - one project/fix leads to another. So, I'm on nazi-mode at the moment to get the majority of this done. Then, after we get back from Peru, going to push it again to finish this rig by year's end. Ok, sans the motor swap, but everything else to be done by year's end.

Woot.

Coming together well Shane. Just never seems to end :) Pays off huge in the end though! You'll never get the smile off your face when you are behind the wheel.

I wish I could swing the tank right now....but everything else has bled the LC funds dry over the last year. Will remain on the list though.

Thank you and the anticipation is killing me. But I'm glad I'm doing this work now. . .will make the downtime seem mundane when she has open heart surgery =) And then I think it's probably a blessing that I don't have my own garage. . .vacation/sick days burned, deciding to quit while I 'finish the cruiser', opting in on Obamacare, oh....the choice we make, hehe.

So, between running full throttle at clinic for the next 7 days, packing/getting gear ready for our trip, and keeping my 'getting married' anxiety in check, I plan on doing the following:

1. Install J's rear bumper.
2. Install MAF longrange tank.
3. Finish cleaning/painting the inner frame rails that somehow were missed last week, hehe.
4. Interior surprise installed (fingers crossed).

Once we get back - if we make it back (evil grin) - I'll have by mid-June:

5. Front bumper installed.
6. Rock lights installed.
7. Engine bay paint/cleanup finalized.
8. Valves adjusted, fluids flushed, and RUNNING!

Woot!

good morning to all. so i finally got around to joining and will get pics posted as soon as possible.

1989 FJ62 originated in FL now in NC.

i had the tranny rebuilt with 307k miles on it so she'll probably keep on going. keeping everything fairly clean and OEM/ match with the GPS upgrade and R134 swap. its now the daily driver for the fiancé. typical rust repair and the el guapo paint job is next.

thanks in advance for all the insight, advice, postings, videos, and how-tos. this place has been a life saver to say the least.
