Just wondering...

when is a "hobby" considered an addiction.

Specifically, how many FJ's in the yard, garage and drive are needed for you to consider counceling?

She is alive..... alive.

No pictures, but I got the 67' all cleaned up, evicted all of the residents and got her firing yesterday for a few seconds. The carb is not delivering fuel, so a quick rebuild is in my future. But she ran on Ether....

I have a laundry list of things to repair on this one before she drives, but so far good news.

Now, I am off to try and find a rebuild kit for a 67' Aisan d40 carb. Appears to be stock. Is this a dealer item???

Well, just drove the 68' around the house a few times. No brake lines yet, so it is all go, and no stop, but she is moving. Andrew came over on Thursday and we went through all of the fluids, and either replaced or topped off everything. The tranny fluid had so many solids that when I pulled the drain plug nothing came out. I poked my finger up the drain hole any then some very metallic fluid came out. (insert sick joke here)

The only issue on the engine now is that when the fuel pump is running and the car is not, it appears to overpower the float and overfill the carb. Andrew thought I might need a return line, I was thinking about adding a relay that kicks power on when the car is turned on and power is going to the distributor. Any thoughts?

Oh, I forgot, since this is becoming the build thread, I replaced the brake master with new, rebuilt all of the wheel cylinders, and I am having custom brake lines made.

I had to replace the clutch master, the lines and the slave. The carb got a total rebuild (thanks Mark's offroad for parts) the fuel system was replaced. All of the fluid and vacuum hoses were replaced.

I pulled the valve cover off, retourqued the head. Took out the old in line heater for winter, and other cra@ that was around, including the pair of vise grips that was holding closed an aftermarket oil pressure line.

Will post pics later.
