Need slightly longer wheel studs

Before I went SOA with new wheels and steering I ran the 22R series calipers with no spacers and they cleared the D window wheel by a mm or 2. I doubt they would clear those v6 calipers even with a 1/4" spacer. Are your wheels perhaps greater than a 3.75" BS?

The wheels fit - with a 1/4" spacer and a little grinding. That is not my problem.

The stud length with 1/4" spacer is my problem. I don't have enough threads engaging the lug nut.

After pretty much determining that the stud I want is not available, I now am wondering if I can instead use a 1/8" spacer and also space my caliper back 1/8".

What happens if the "shoulder" on the stud is longer such as the FJ60 front stud? Does the hub have a knurl-sized hole all of the way through, or is there a shoulder inside of there?

Dorman Catalog

610-264 is the front FJ60 stud

610-265 is the stud I currently have

Something is not adding up here. It seems that everyone and their brother runs 1/4" spacers. Either they all have lug nuts that are about to fall off, or I am missing something here.

How thick is your rim at the part where you bolt it to the hub?

Anyone have thoughts on spacing the caliper?
Spacing the calipers means spacing the rotors and then you are back to the same problem again.

Also for the rocord.
The IFS rotors are not the same as LC rotors, they have longer hat.

I thought I might be able to get away with spacing the caliper and leaving the rotor alone. Still gonna give it a look to see if I can, but I imagine that my new pads are too thick to let me get away with it.

Worst case I suppose that I am looking at getting the 4 cyl calipers.

great job, brakes look super clean :D

I'm running fj60 rotors w/LARGE 4runner calipers and wagon wheels:

It's close, but don't need to run a spacer

I believe I'm also running the MT studs...I know there doorman.

Manny's rims are 16" I believe.
Have you tried these people?

They list studs as long as 4 1/4"
You have to measure your studs and and compare.
They might be worth trying, becuase your current setup looks real good.

i am using 1/2" - 20 x 3" with a .563" knurl moroso studs in the front of mine. they are from summit , part # 46220. i had to grind a small amount of the spline off to seat fully in the hub/ rotor. i haven't yet put them to the test 'cause i'm in full rebuild mode. they pressed in well and i tack welded them to the back of the rotor. i hope they work!

Just an update- I ordered some longer studs from the link Caz posted above- these do not work the fj60 rotors and larger 4runner calipers when doing a conversion (minitruck knuckles). The knurl is directly near the cap, rather than spaced up on the shaft by a few mm.

Hmm... Sorry! I never got them to try them out.

I am currently using the minitruck ones. They are none too long, but they do engage just about enough when torqued down tightly. I still would like to find a better solution as I feel the need to check them all the time to make sure everything is ok.

I'm probably going the same route, I'm in the same boat just trying to get 1/4" spacers for more clearance between the caliper and my wheels.

So, for anyone else that stumbles across this thread:

-the Ichiba studs do not work, they're for newer toyotas and have a different design

-Napa part number 641-3126, is close but no cigar, they're actually ~2 mM shorter than stock

-Napa part number 641-1628 was also mentioned above, not sure of dimensions

-the Toyota OEM part number is 90942-02053 (found in another thread, haven't verified that yet)

-Autozone part number is 610-624, this is the Dorman part number that others have used, I have not verified the length compared to stock.

I'm going to swing by the dealership today and see if they've got any in stock, just to make a head to head comparison.

I'll let you know what I find,

i am using 1/2" - 20 x 3" with a .563" knurl moroso studs

x2 on moroso

fj60 studs don't seem to be long enough, so I'm also going with 1/2" moroso studs (same kurl as stock).

MOR-46220 WHEEL STUDS 1/2-20 x 3"
SUM-7540026 ACORN 1/2" 4PK LUG NUTS

Planning on doing install when I do gear changes...a couple of weeks out.
