Hi all,

In the process of rebooting my CV axles. I remove the bolt holding the ABS sensor to the LCA, but can't seem to get it off. What do I do with the rubber plug-looking thing next to the bolt? Also, the CV axle won't budge after hitting with a brass drift for some time. Should I start tugging it out while facing outward?

Well damn. Broke the plastic thing that holds the sensor in place. How exactly you get this rubber grommet thing off? Yelp.

I'm in the process of replacing my right front ABS sensor. From what I have read, they corrode in place and have to be driven out by removing the backing plate from the rotor. Individuals have had to use a punch and then a Dremel with sanding drum to clean up the corrosion. The replacement part is $180ish.

Yep...years ago I crossed this same bridge: The ABS sensors were corroded and beyond friendly removal. Onur aka @beno got more parts orders.

When you finally get them out be sure to take a brass shotgun cleaning brush or similar and get all the corrosion out. Then, although not designed for this purpose I've been very happy with it in this application, I smear a very light coat of Energy Suspension Poly-bushing lube (because its very tenacious and lasts a long time...).

Unfortunately if you destroy them getting them out...you'll be buying new.

For next time: You can normally get by without removing the abs speed sensor. Leave it alone as long as it's working, and be careful when working on hub /axle.

for the sensor I usually just drill whats left out, as mentioned above a dremel works just as well. for the axle if you have access to air tools using an air hammer with the punch tip that works excellent. you would put the punch tip in the dimpled end of the axle, wont damage the threads for the axle nuts. if you don't have that a little heat and get a big dead blow hammer, heat and beat.
