Nothing is wrong. :)
I am just putting my pyro in and have a question.

I removed the heat shield and started drilling a pilot hole in the dead center of the manifold right below the screw. I got about .75" down and I still have not broke through.

Is there a piece the goes through the center of the manifold?
Do I need to drill to one side?

Thanks,
Nick

Keep drilling or get a drill doctor and keep that drill bit sharp.

You should cut through with a tiny drill bit first, try and put some grease throught he tiny hole to capture all the fillings until start up.

Maybe overkill, but those fillings into the turbo would not be good.

I just talked to cruiser_guy on the one and we figure there is metal reinforment in the dead center by the was of a cross piece. So I started a new hole .75 to the left and broke through in .25 inches.

The other hole is not even through yet, so I will fill it somehow (or leave it).
Any fill ideas? a bolt?

Cheers,
Nick

So everything is done and installed now.
Took it for a quick test drive.
Highest I saw my boost on a big hill was 11psi or so.
Highest I saw my temps was about 700'

I ended up having to cut a hole in my heat shield for the pyro guage to stick through. I also felt around the whole in the manifold with a piece of wire.
It seems as though there is lots of extra inside the manifold to help direct the flow down. I was drilling into that. So when I went to the side it was easy.

But now I have a whole in my manifold about 3/8 round and 1/2 deep.
I tried taping it and putting a bolt in to fill the hole. But it was to shallow to tap.

Maybe I will braze it?
Or do I even need to do anything?
It does not leak there and according to my wire test there is lots of metal left (1/8 minmum, maybe 1/4).
What would happen if I left it? Anything?

Thanks,
Nick

Hi there,

This is what the manifold looks like from inside, with the pyro fitted.

PS. the 1st hole you drilled... if it hasnt gone through, just leave it.

I wouldn't worry about it. But I would keep an eye on it. Every once and awhile look for cracks coming from the hole. Thats the only problem that could happen.

If you see a crack then you have to take it to a welder to get fixed up.
