yeah Glen is pretty sharp on them; seem like a helluva a guy too. However its his damn rig I'm trying to inspect:D:whoops:

I'd give that a big fat HELL NO!!

You can see that it was just (very poorly)sprayed with undercoat on the bottom. The person who gets that pig with lipstick will not be happy. Chances are the high bidder along with the other five bidders are his buddies looking to drive up the price.

I'd suggest staying away from generic "Classic Car Dealers" or any dealer on ebay for that matter. They often over inflate the price and rarely have a clue nor a care about these type rides. It's smoke and mirrors in a shiny showroom floor with a checkered tiled floor.

Be patient on this site, and buy from a mud member. They will give you the real DL on the rig, and more likely than not were heavily involved in the process of getting it into the shape it's in.

There are some good solid trucks on eBay (I'm putting 2 on there!) But the ones at dealers are rarely what they seem. The reason the dealer got the car is because it was traded in (problem child) or they bought it at auction ( some other dealer's problem child).
If you ask the dealer any FJ40 specific questions they'll have no idea what you're talking about.
 
NO!!! Rear frame is toast. Missing stock tail lights( looks like housing rotted off). Missing rear side markers, overspray on pedals.. Cheap fix up.. Much better out there.. My 2 cents

That depends on how extensive you want to be with the "restoration" of your new acquisition. That rig would probably run you $5k to properly replace the rear sill and put patch panels in the corners, strip/paint the exterior to the stock red. Obviously taking it off the frame is a can of worms which can seem like an endless supply of money is needed if you are in it for the long haul.

Personally, I like the look of a survivor with patina like the one I linked above. If you want a big project I'd suggest finding a rusted out stock cruiser, sourcing a clean tub and have everything gone through and swapped over after you have the new tub sprayed. You also can paint the frame, put on the power steering as well as any other improvements you see fit and you'll have a nice cruiser ready to hit the road. This is not a cheap route, but it beats some of the other ones that look hacked up with some shiny paint you posted on this thread. Basically, you want to avoid someone elses headache.
