so i looked, but could not find anything, so ill try here... 87 runner... tryin to put in a new after market switch just to bypass and get rid of that stuff, main reason, my relay box went bad and i dont feel like fixing it... i went out and bought a switch similar to the one that comes stock, momentary on, center off, momentary on... 5 wire, not 6 wire but 5 like stock... has a light, might not use it tho... my problem is that, nothing is marked and i dont know what wire goes where, ive been asking almost everyone i know, but they know just as much as me, and that isnt much, so any tips or pointers, or even a simple diagram on how to wire in my switch to power the rear window would be great!!!

In order to wire the window with a single switch you need a "double pole, double throw" switch, which will have 6 wires. While this is possible, it will eliminate the keyed switch on the tail gate, and probably take more time than fixing what's wrong with the stock set up.

Do your relays click when you turn the key or press the window switch?

no clicking from relays, they used to tho.... if a dpdt switch has 6 wires, than whatd i get?

i really do not think we could answer that, at least post some pics of the switch.

oh and next to your fuse box is a yellow breaker, pull it out and make sure it is good before abandoning the stock system. also i have a relay box in an 86 so pm me if interested.

and maybe this will help to...

I just put in a used switch that turned out to be so dirty inside that it would not function, I took it apart and cleaned the contacts and it's good as new.

Do you get any clicking when you try the switch in the tail gate?

nope... i just want to bypass all the stock safety stuff, and just install a new switch, czu that is all im really tryin to do, and half the time i dont have my keys on me... so if i get a 6 wire switch how would i wire that?

might be easier to fix the stock harness, but its kinda cold where i live, and i dont have a heater to sit in a cold truck for a few hours... and id honestly rather make my own switch so i know how its put together... so to each their own. ok... correct me if im wrong, do the motor wires connect to the middle connectors than the power and ground go to the outside ones?

That goes for most DPDT switches. It would be best to get a momentary on, off, momentary on switch. That way it doesn't get flipped on and stay on. You have to hold it on for it to stay on. Good luck finding one at the local parts store.

Here is a good circuit using automotive relays:
