Seems as my inside front heater core in my 82 45 is filling the air with that wonderful sweet smell of work ahead.
Anyone have a good source of where to get rebuilds or new cores that will last and fit. The one I have now is only two years old........no more warranty. Toyota no longer sells them.
Any good guidance for a replacement is welcome.
Thanks

Love2fly,

cruisercorps has them for 129.95 and it shows in stock. I did see them some where else for less but can't remember where. It did buy one of these for my 65 FJ45 several months back and I had to tack the little brackets on. The older heater cores were different. It has worked fine, but I have not had it long.

Hi Mark, yeah I saw the corps ad for a core but need to hold down the cost as it's Xmas and all. Seems as the seep is getting to a leak so this will have to be done soon.
I did some leg work this morning and did find a few places that have a part number of 399306 for a replacement. Only problem is when I put in my year of vehicle - 1982, it comes up as non compatible part. If I use the year 1980, says it is a direct fit. The part looks the same as what I have but I do not have mine out yet so I can not be sure if there is a difference between 1980 and the 1982 heater cores. I am guessing that in the US market they only list up to 1980 for the Fj40/45 land cruisers even thought they were produced a few years more and the cores are possibly the same.

Anyone know if the 1982 FJ40-45 heater core is the same as the 1980 and earlier?

Few places where I found the PN 399306 for the FJ40-45 cores.

II agree with you guys but it seems most of the time the seep or leak is in the center were in is impossible to repair. Of Couse I do not have it out yet so maybe I will get lucky and the problem is an easy fix at a shop. This one only lasted a short time and was from Auto Zone, I ask the other day were they are made and yes China. It seems most all are from China now, two of the top ones are china made.
That's why I am asking if there is a better product company that anyone may know of.

If the end tanks are good and the core is of poor quality and leaking, perhaps a radiator shop can do a "re-core". I have had success with this on stock radiators rather than buying a new one.

Hey Daryl,

The heater core (87107-60093) is the same for 73-84 US spec 4x's including a 1982 Aus spec FJ45 (just looked that up to verify)

We stock a unit we get from our AC/Rad supply place (brand escapes me but they retail for more like $90) but I've had customers use and happy with the OReilly version too:

Did a second check of the radiator fluid levels, the good news is the fluids are the same so it has to be a weep going on in the core so I have time. Hate to pull it all out in the middle of a snow storm. Heading to your web site Kurt, thanks.
