Anybody have a fresh air cable in their stash that they would be willing to part with? I tried fixing mine, but it keeps pulling apart.

Lemme dig. If I have more than one spare I can probably hook you up. I have not ordered hvac for 45 yet so dunno if im going retro pull cable or knob yet.

Remind me. Fresh air cable on a 76' goes out to passenger side of engine compartment?

FYI- best solution I have heard of for fixing bad cables is to get some tubing that the entire cable and cover will fit inside of(like 3/8 ID tubing), plug one end then fill full with penatrating lube. Let it sit for a couple days. Then do the same with some lithium grease spray lube. Amazing....

Fresh air cable runs to just inside the blower mounted on the firewall. Pulls the door to allow air from outside or recirculate air. Mine slides okay. It's the plastic and metal flexible cable that has detached from the metal part mounted to the dash. Normally it fits inside and is crimped, but my metal has been crimped one too many times and is now split.

Gotcha. I will look.

You mean that duct tape can't solve everything????

if it's metal on metal use flux core solder. Did that once on a cruiser cable that had seperated. I will try to dig as well.. Can you give me lenght? and or pic. length of total cable.

Here's some pics of the ones I conveniently sold off my parts rig some time in the last 6 months. The fresh pull is the longer one, about 3'. I didn't think of soldering. I might just cut back some of the plastic shield and give that a try.

Huh I might have one? Even looks like I repaired one sometime ago! Will bring to meeting. You bring cash or I have a hankering for shock top in cans lately in the garage. Either works as I will need to pay alex for a booster

Thanks to both of you. There just may be some shock top there anyway. Provided I can find where to get it. Never heard of it until your post.

At least I didn't ask for tank seven!

That is no beer snob... just an educated man.
