Hello! I recently bought a 1977 FJ40 that I need to move from the seller's residence in Shell, Wyoming (82441) to Georgetown, Texas (78628). I have a broker that has been searching for a carrier for a week now with no success. Shell is a small town and a bit remote but the roads are good. I'm told carriers don't want to stray that far from their normal routes (I-90, for example). Any help anyone can offer is appreciated!

Did you look at a map to see where Shell, WY actually is ?

There is nothing there .....

Anyone going either direction along I-90 is full - they are not dropping off.

If they have room on a trailer - they are not headed to Texas.

Auto transport brokers don't haul cars .

If you want that - better hook up a trailer and go get it or pay someone for all the miles they have to drive to go get it.

Jim

Do you have AAA? You may be able to get it towed to a more populated city to help with pickup. I know the feeling as I am waiting for a pickup as well.

Call Aaron at summit auto he was able to move my truck to a better pick up spot and ship it from there to get it to me. Nice guy and he will be able to figure it out for you

Nice truck! I drove thru Shell a couple of days ago.

Like @FJ40 MATT stated give Aaron a buzz. I have used him in the past and that's who I am using at the moment to move a 75 to Austin from Reno. We are still waiting for someone to take the quote. Maybe it's just a bad time to ship cars.

It is in Wyoming, there are no populated cities. I hope it stays that way :)
Seriously, Sheridan would be the closest larger city and it is still small. But you could probably get an auto transport out of Sheridan as it is right on the interstate and they run from Billings to Denver all the time on that route.

Thanks for the tip @FJ40 MATT! I called Aaron earlier today and within 20 minutes he had a workable plan in place. He's working on getting the FJ40 to Denver then on another carrier down to Georgetown TX. It's always nice working with fellow Land Cruiser owners. Thanks again!

Nice glad to hear it all worked out. Good luck with your new cruiser

I always appreciate the referrals @FJ40 MATT @Mr Cimarron . It would have been nice if it worked out as we planned. @dukester73 decided to cancel the truck after I scheduled them to pick it up, to go with the other company that he waited over a week for. I was under the impression that we had an agreement to get the vehicle shipped so I scheduled a driver to go to the middle of nowhere to pick it up only to find out the next day that he would prefer to use someone outside of the community that has 2 stars on Yelp. I guess its not that important to use a fellow Cruiser owner after all.
This all may seem petty, but I treat Mud members differently than regular customers and I expect them to follow through on their end when I follow through on mine. I don't charge up front and dont make MUD members sign a contract. Maybe I should in the future to avoid any confusion about who is actually moving the vehicles.

Aaron (@Riverrunner), I have already explained the situation and apologized for what happened. I even offered to pay you the cancellation fee that I would have had to pay with the other transport company as a goodwill gesture for your time and attention. As I said, I contacted you late Friday afternoon and I had every intention of contacting the other transport first thing Monday morning to cancel. I was surprised to get a call from them on a Saturday, outside of normal business hours, confirming a truck for Monday morning.

As far as online reviews, the other company gets 4-5 star reviews on a number of other sites. This is the nature of the internet. Anyone can find varying reviews for just about any company out there, including yours.

I regret how everything turned out. And, it is regrettable that you decided to take this to a public forum instead of leaving this thread on a positive note per my last post. This was my first experience with cross-country vehicle transport and I obviously came into this completely green. If I could do it all over again I would. But, this is where we're at. I sincerely apologize and do appreciate the time you took finding me a truck. I hold no ill will. And, as I've already communicated to you, will recommend your business in the future whenever/wherever I can.
