My Sequoia: the LX450 replacement (DD & family/car hauler)

Local dealer did the timing belt, water pump and such all replaced with OEM parts. Also did the valve cover gaskets while there (I have been working on other car projects).

I picked it up on 8/24 and only put 190 miles on it when on the way home from trip (9/8) it shredded the serpentine belt. I pulled off the road, called for help from a buddy, picked up tools and a new belt. Put it on (it was dark) but noticed the belt was not on tensioner fully and ended up towing it back to the dealer.

They found the crank pulley was loose... (I think someone forgot to tighten it, ugh) so they fixed it all for free and paid me back for the belt I bought. It has been great since I picked it back up on the 16th. Lets hope nothing else is loose...

Progress made on 2/15, replaced the plate trim that had broken tabs all over, replaced the stock plate lights with new LED panels that were for the 2ng gen sequoia. Same exact dimensions just a different plug. Also drilled out and retapped the plate mounts and upped size to M8.

When temporarily fixing the plate lights a week or two before this, I saw this cable was about the fail, so that was replaced:

Tapped to repair and up to a stronger, less problematic M8:

All cleaned and ready for the install:

Factory cable for the hatch, or did you find a good aftermarket? I just replaced my handle assembly and then 2 days later it’s not opening again. I’m guessing the cable is stretched or not staying put.

I bought mine from a dealer I buy from a lot, although here is one on ebay that seems OEM.

The OEM part number for the cable is:
646800C010

Thanks for the link. I know the parts girl at my dealer well (she has a done up 3rd Gen 4Runner) and she loves my Sequoia so always gives me good deals. I’ll price it there first.

Well its been rock solid and sadly mods have been tossed at my other projects, but I did grab another keyless entry remote and programmed that over the weekend (new batteries too).

oh and a month or so ago I installed camry rear LEDs where the reflectors are. Updates the rear just enough for me.
(using for parking lights only but they can do blinker and brake lights as well).

I do plan on swapping to the new headlights, new LED mini projector and installing the ditch lights soon as the days are getting longer (all things I want to do when later so I can aim it all in the dark).

Completed the headlight swap and newer LED headlights bulbs ( the type that has a projector built in for custom aiming and perfect cut off line).

Ah. Thought I’d seen them before. They look amazing.
Thank you. I am a huge fan of them too. Love how close they are color matched.

Also ordered the GX460 front brake upgrade caliper (machined by Jim S), rotors, pads and SS brake lines.

Jealous of the brake upgrade. I have been trying for the past six months to get a set out here in Utah with no luck. If your guy is cool with it, can you give PM the contact info for your GX rotors?

Worked on the rear brakes as one either through a pad or just ate it.

Repainted the G5 paint that looked like hell with red POR15 paint. Lets see what holds up better this time.

Also bought another tow hook and hardware from a junkyard and painted it with black POR15.

After doing the rear brakes last week, the lexus GX big brake upgrade was done.

Tossed on the POR15ed extra tow hook for the side that did not have one too.

and a good friend just picked up a clean VA 06 Sequoia (blue!) to replace her rusty framed 04:

Any idea if the 06 tail lights would fit my 03? They look more modern…
