Well Christopher, The difference between a 90 Series and a 95 is that the 90 Series is a 2-door Model Like this one:

And the 95 series is a 5 door model like mine.

Well a TRD Supercharger for this engine costs around $3000USD But in Colombia it can easily cost almost 3 times that. I was lucky that I bought mine used and for the price it would have cost new.

The 95 series comes with IFS. No solid front axle but I like it that way. You can get a TRD supercharger anywhere online, in the states our engine is used in the Tacomas. So it would be easy to find one.
Frank

Thanks Frank .... check my signature ... I have a VZJ95 ... same like yours .... I thought that the 95 you were referring to was a different series (in Europe it is not know as a 95 .... both 3+5d are know as LC90 ... the recent model 3 or 5d is an LC120 ...etc) ... this is why I was confused on whether yours has a different setup ....

I will definitely check the TRD turbo kit ... sounds like a really good mod .... what is the difference in hp, acceleration, etc ...??

The IFS is a factor .... great on road .. not so great offroad ... the limits are good but would be nice to be able to do something for more articulation in the front ....

Lucky Bastard. :flipoff2:
How much fun is it now!! They sound great don't they? Most people think it's going to be a rally car until they see it.

So what's next? My vote is for a nice set of custom sliders & a mild body lift.

Thanks Christopher, thats one of my favorite photos too, it's the biggest drawback with wheeling a 40 - There only room for 1 winch :princess:

Cheers,
Matty

It is really fun driving on the highway... When I speed up everyone is like WTF?!?!? that thing is quick..LOL there are alot of TRD'd Prados but they are Armored... I think my next mod would have to be a front Bumper and some sliders. I havent really looked into a body kit do you have any vendors that offer them.

I havent been able to find any website that shows how much it gains maybe someone can help.. It would be interesting to know how much are the gains.. So far IFS has been good I dont do much hard wheeling mostly expedition type trips...

I see what you mean with the Series numbers well the body style is a LC90 but our particular model is like yours 95.

Cheers

Frank

I live in San Cristobal.. about one hour from cucuta.. you can check out Meru Adventure Venezuela and join the forums.. I'm a member of that club.. it's spread all over the country.. I think maracaibo is really close to cartagena..

Nice Prado Frank. I bet that thing really moves with the supercharger. What brought you down to Colombia from FL? I've been to S. Am several times and I'd like to go back someday.

Hey Nicholas,

Yeah she runs great with the supercharger!! I moved down to Colombia mainly for work and family. I have been here for about 2 years, I am happy here...

Hi Frank and everybody else,

hope you are good...

Regarding the supercharger - do you have any issues with poor fuel delivery?

Have you done any additional modifications/upgrades related to the TRD supercharger?

I am in the processs of finalising one ... hopefully ... and been proposed additional kits to improve fuel delivery .... they say normal fuel delivery is poor and need to upgrade to allow the supercharger to work at the max ...

Thanks
Christopher

Yes sometimes there is a lag, it seems that It can be related to the fuel delivery, TRD sells a 7th Injector you may wanna look and see, it supposed to fix the pinging that occurs in low RPM's

I haven't been looking at the 90 series section and just came across this thread. Nice pics and commentary. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I will soon be posting up pics of my new rear bumper setup and sliders!!!!
