hard top fiber glass

Johny C :
- is it all fiberglass sides and top panels?
A/ Yes, it's all fiberglass.

- the rear of the top is also interesting...any good pics of the
rear...door especially...is it a full one piece door?
or does the top lift up and has 1/2 doors lower?
A/ The rear top is a full one piece door. It does not have half door
lower.

The maker in Colombia, is MPR (Reinforced Plastic Manufactures).
Almost all of the hard top in our rigs, have been made by this
factory.
This factory, makes also hard tops for old Land Rovers,
Nissan Patrol, Ford Bronco, Jeeps CJx, and other rigs.

Tough crowd :)

Nice FJ43, I had one as well

It makes me real sad to see your FJ43 dude:frown:. On January I purchased the FJ you see below. I enjoyed for 2 weeks, left it with family so I could use it as a vacation car. Saddly it was stolen. $9000 lost. It was a a phone company car (EPM, Empresas Publicas de Medellin) All original 1984 FJ43. I just wanted to share my story.

Fiverglass Hardtop

Just as extra info. Colombia received all FJs with softtops, the fiverglass tops and rear doors were made by two separate companies in Colombia. By law if your vehicle is titled with a hardtop, you must have a hardtop in place, if you are tiltled as softtop, you must have a softtop in place. And now I know by experience why no one ever removes them.

great looking rig....juanpm...too bad its gone...did you get another? or will you?

those look like 15" split rims :)...or 16"?

do the two seperate companies have websites? or more info about them?

I like to check up on things and gain some knowledge :)

The wheels were 16" split rims, with recaps all around. The companies were Fivres and MPR, however I can not find any website for them, it is possible they are no longer producing them. I am sorry I can not be more helpful.

One of the biggest problems with aftermarket fenders available in the states is/was the sag you mentioned. Anytime I'm forced to use them, I always start with a damned healthy tug at the outside corner to make the bottom line of the fender horizontal with the ground. CCOT has even mentioned it, saying that their fenders are now "improved" and have been remolded. I put on a pair today, and I have to say, there is a great improvement over the last pair I installed. Whether yours are aftermarket or not is really not an issue, it's a great truck that's very rare in the states, and is a pleasure to look at your pictures in any case.
