Nice install, are you going to put a proper air filter on instead of the mini pod?

yeah eventually ill get rid of it and run a inline filter and a snorkel however for now it will do

next on the cards is finishing of the rear false floor and installing a water tank and a few other bits ive collected over the years

well new manifold gasket and while the turbo was off i ported the wastgate outlet

its heaps better and boost is more stable 8psi rather than 15-20psi spikes

and yesterday i stripped down the entire 80 series chassi i had removed all the factory mounts of it and the coil hats ect ect

have a project im painting in the garage at the moment once its painted it can live outside and the troopy will get to live inside to get the 80 diffs and suspension fitted under it over winter so its good to go come summer YAH

well the troopy got its bigest test this weekend just gone 400km loaded with camping gear and towing a loaded car trailer

managed it fine got quite warm after some long hills but apart from that is all sweet

now to rip it apart and weld in the 80 diffs and coils YAH

GRRR bad news this weekend staretd swapping in the 80 front diffgot the 40 stuff removed and rolled the 80 diff under put it on stands and started measuring getting it all lined up so i can mark and start welding on the mounts

while im measuring i notice that both radius arms are warped or the diff housing is warped by around 2"

so out it all came for more measuring and checking to find out whats bent im really hoping its only the housing cause i can get a bare one for 50bux

grrr

in the end i swapped the 40 gear back in as im heading away next weekend camping if the weather is 1/2 decent so was hoping to get the front diff done this weekend

owell its like that

friday night took the troopy over to a mates place as i get off the freeway it starts to splutter and run like crap limp to my mates place where its only running on 4cyl

had to limp it home carefully, did a comp check this morning 0psi on 1-2 90-100psi on 3-4-5-6

head gasket blown between 1 and 2 BUMMER

owell its all ripped apart got a new gasket this arvo and will have it back together tomorrow sometime

no bad 2-3 years running turboed and running 20psi at some times and its lasted this long im happy

Wow eh, I guess you are pushing the 2F places Toyota never envisaged. Can you still get genuine head gaskets? Toyota head gaskets just seem so much better than the aftermarket stuff.

im pretty sure toyota gaskets are avaliable but not on a saturday afternoon and at the moment the troopy is my daily driver so i needed to get it fixed asap

ive backed the boost way down only running 5psi these days but its still enough power to happily sit at 100-110 up hills on freeways and off the line its just great

the turbo curently fitted will go up to 30psi boost if its needed 5psi its barley working

been working on the rear of the troopy for a while now LONG WHILE but finally its almost done still some of the draws too box in and make some dividers
