well another 6 months on and not much has happened ive rebuild the false floor and fitted a slide out bbq into the back of it for the quick weekends away
have been considering selling it and upgrading to a 80 series but i dunno hard decision to make
is it straight gas??? was it worth the effort to turbo it? i own a troopy myself and i was thinking of fitting a ford 6 or v8. didnt really think of a turbo. cheers
yeah its been on straight gas since i brought it i hate dual fuel they never run right on either so i ditched the petrol
the turbo made it a awesome vehicle to drive but its taken me nealy 2 years to iron out the kinks of the cheap system and there still not totally ironed out
looking at upgrading the turbo in the near future but apart from that its all good
well at this stage the diffs and suspension are going to go onto the troopy chassi even thos its more work it will be legal as of mid last year you cant do a body swap in vic GRRRR
it also means the wheelbase will be where i want it
pretty sure ive seen his thread impressive stuff if i remember correctly
id considered selling off the trooopy and getting a swb body and fitting that to the 80 chassi but im just too used to the troopy size
yah i was going through boxes of stuff and found a vr/vs commodore throttle body
sat it up to the bolt holes and it was less than 2mm out so a quick diegrind and it bolts on perfectly no adapter needed YAH
nealy ready to bolt it all together gotta get some new nuts and bolts that where missing from the manifold and will bolt it together this week sometime YAH
well today was dday had enough stuff to rip the turbo and inlet setup apart and start fitting up the new gear
so started off removing the stock inlet manifold and then the turbo and exhaust manifold nothing new or strange there
then started bolting everything back together few small issues the 3fe inlet is heaps thicker than the 2f so i had to do some grinding so it all bolted up together no real issues
had to relocate my lpg converter as the 3fe inlet was never gonna clear it no big deal easy solved
got the inlet bolted up and went too fit the new bigger turbo and wasnt gonna happen was hitting the wheel arch heaps so ended up chopping the flange of the manifold to move the turbo off the guard slightly and even with it touching the inlet manifold it was hitting the guard so i just tapped a indent into the guard to clear the turbo
so at the end of the day the 3fe inlet and new turbo is fitted and ive relocated the gas converter
tomorrow ive gotta buy some new pipeing to make a new exhaust and modify the intercooler piping and it sohuld be ready to test drive YAH
what did i scare everyone have driven it about 50kays adn its sweet as drives great
its still getting warm im gonna see about a better radiator or if thats not a easy option gonna chop the intercooler in 1/2 height wise so theres more airt flow to the radiator
