screw Jamaica...poverty central from what I have heard. What do you do for a living there? Not trying to hijack your thread. Just curious.

I'm a mechanic and have a few bussines, surviving here is no peace of cake.
And sorry about the thread highjack

I am also from Vnzla and buying a good reliable 80 or any other Landcruiser from there is way more difficult then it looks then just opening up your Auto Trader and picking one out.. Like the above pics the vehicle has sat under water for a while and so have most of them. So for all the trouble that you would go thru to find a decent one bring it here just to have 5 speed, manual hubs etc , it just wouldn't be worth it in my opinion. Well I guess if I had a lot of $$ then I would think about it just to say Hey I have one. ;)

What you do is: Buy one in Venezuela, drive it back, strip your current 80 and opt it as you wish from the Venezuelan donor. Not that hard to figure out, really.

I really like the more utilitarian aspect of the Venezuelan model. No hood struts, crank windows, 5 speed, part time 4wd, etc.

Hi Guys, I wanted to revive this thread because i Had sold this truck to my friend Tapage , actually his wife, And after 5 years of hardcore mall wheeling , I bought it back to finally build my ideal 80.

I've had it over a year now and have got it almost done. But when is any of this ever done??

This is how i got it.

Then started measuring and modding.

fenders were cut

bumpers were made

Nice transformation. Cool that you've bought and built it twice. And that it sat in good hands until you were ready for phase II

Keep us posted and of course share a few pics of the fire trip out

I still have a year worth of pictures to upload, But i'll get around to it.
The inner fender was pie cut and filled to match the outer fender. The outer fender has a strip welded to the edge to match the inner fender.
5mm rivets were installed on the lip, and button head bolts tie both together.

People say i stole the paint job from Iceland, But the truth is i hadn't even seen that truck till after i painted mine. I admit i stole the paint job from these guys…

Pics of the first hardcore trip. 700Km round trip. About 120 of those off road.

My 80 makes a 1 ton jeep on 43's look small

Camping in style

Proof we made it from pacific coast to atlantic coast and back.

virgin jungle

Camo matches up good.

Chains a must

Needs a week long carwash
