I am doing the same thing from some old door skins. Here are some pictures of mine.

I decidied to notch them for arm rest's. I used some 1 1/2 square tubing- it was thick and probally overkill- but hey- it's a cruiser.

Looking good. Good thread. I'm starting on a set for my Dad's 70 and was going to use the lines of my Eshan doors which are alot like yours. My thoughts were to leave the outside a little longer heat and bend it over and weld the seam to the inside panel. Not sure thats best for strength just thinking. I've just gutted them down to the shells and they'e ready for blasting. I'll keep an eye on the progress here
