First off, it was a very well-planned event and obviously took a lot of time on the part of many folks. Great site, good camping. The s***ters were a little full, but not a big deal. The park itself has great potential.
I had a chance to put faces with a lot of names on the MudBoard and met some new guys/gals as well. This was my first outing of this kind and if I can get a little more courage, will go again.
Now enters my virgin wheeling experience.....Started out on the green #20 trail not knowing what to expect. After finishing I think an extra pair or two of underwear and a pint of liquid courage might have helped. I wired my ARB wrong and although I was pushing those little buttons, my rear was locked from the first time I engaged it:doh: , which may have accounted for my rig sliding downhill when I didn't want it to. Also running a little less than 40# of air in the tires might help, too. And when you pack a s***load of tools for the trip, don't leave them back at camp.
This pic was taken by my passenger where trail #20 crosses a black trail that goes straight up a rock wash. Thank God you cannot see the look on my face....I am definitely a wus. All I ended up with was a slightly bent mirror and a bruised ego.
Still had a great time.
Thanks to all,
Ed

Glad you guys made it back safely.....new wrinkles and all. Thanks for the compliments on the truck, I think the weak link is.....me:frown:

On the brighter side, Tornado Alley Cruisers has a bunch of very experienced members who have offered to school me, and perhaps reduce to a tolerable level, my pucker-factor.
The very nice guy behind me on the trail in a 62 who seemed to have far less trouble than I.

Good weekend in spite of me.

Ed, My rig has an open seat for the Daylight Savings Run 10/28 - 10/29. Come on up and hop in. I doubt I'll have my Longfield's by then since I smoked my turbo on the way home yesterday, but we'll still have fun...

Degnol,
Don't feel bad, that's the exact spot where my wife and I got hung up in our lv. I had a sick feeling that we had wandered onto a wrong trail. All we ended up doing was curling up the drip edge on the roof and tearing a 1/4 inch rip on the door by the mirror. Oh, and there's this wierd puckered up spot on the driver's seat now, don't know how that got there.

Ed, it was good to meet you, you have a SWEET 40. How was the float trip? Al

Ron, don't post all of the pics. Save some for the Trails article :hillbilly: I'd be interested in the one of your runner getting air toward the end of album one. If you can take it off-line and email it to me with some info on the trail etc. 66fj40 at cox dot net

thanks,
Mike

Ed - Thanks again for giving us a jump start at Akers Ferry.

Thanks to everyone else. Ethan had a ball. Very well planned out event. I need to get my 40 back together before next year...

I am just glad that's all it took. Didja get a new battery or was that the problem?

Things just worked out right!:)

What do you want to know? This one's pretty much a tradition now.

Well.............I looked at the calendar and it had "Birthdays", not DSR. Do I need to register in advance? How many guys/gals are going? Just general info, you know. The kinda stuff that someone who has never been might wanna know, you know.:flipoff2:
Camping?
Meals?
Do I need to bring a Hot Dish?

Ed;)

We'll start a thread, but here are the basics:

No need to register - just show up.
We typically stay in the Fancy Creek campground area.
No specific plans for meals yet.
Most will probably show up Friday afternoon or early Saturday.
We usually see one cold night.

The wheeling is light and is a great area to learn on.

HTH.

That's what I need to know. I am obligated to cook some BBQ for a Mizzou Game at some point, but other than that I can be there and obviously need the experience. Maybe someone in the know would start a thread? Hint, hint? Get a head count, etc?

Not the battery - The 4runner started ok all the way back home. I am going check the cables and connections this week. Thanks again...

In a pinch, pour a little CocaCola over the terminals. It cleans them and provides a good electric conductor....no tools, no greasy hands.:)
