I have been stalking the forums for a couple months now. I grew up driving older vehicles and have always loved the 100 series. After being in an ‘18 Tacoma for the past 5 years the lack of charm was getting to me. I picked up this 2000 LC last weekend with 183k miles. No rust, amazing paint. The interior is pretty grimy but I’m going to detail it this weekend and bring in back to life. Pictures of that to come.

Get used to the gas station.

These Land Cruisers/LX470s are so much desired. I've noted numerous posts about guys trading in their later model vehicles for these LC/LX470s. The hidden secret is that mileage on the clock is no where as important as condition and service records.

That’s what I had learned from the forums. It’s hard going from a truck with 50k miles to 183k but this one was taken care of well. She will need a new radiator and I’m going to do the heater t’s for good measure. May need a heater core flush too as the heater is a little weak currently. Previous owner also sold it to me with some new shocks so those will get put on in the next couple weeks as well.

Nice find! Lose the running boards and the razor blade on top of the hatch and it will start to look like a Land Cruiser :flipoff2:*

*standard friendly greeting around here

Tacoma averaged 15-16 so I don’t think I’ll notice too much. I only have a 6 mile commute too

Similar thinking. I'm retired so I only travel 4 to 5k miles per year and the fuel cost per year compared to a 25mpg vehicle is not that much.

Welcome! Clean ‘Cruiser and the best color! (Same color as mine)…. as said, ditch those running boards! Also don’t outdrive the crummy headlights!!!

Is that the first thing people do when they get these? I kind of like the running boards haha

The previous owner installed what I believe are LEDs in the headlights. They are bright as hell

The running boards trap debris and moisture against the rocker panel and reduce your ground clearance.

The OE headlight housings are designed for halogen, not LED.

Great find, now onto baselining and then modifications! I'm so jealous of the grey interior, both of mine have the khaki and it just doesn't stand up to wear the same.

Thanks! My interior is tan as well the seats are just THAT dirty. I bought some leather cleaner and conditioner that should be here by this weekend.

I bought some 18” lx wheels for cheap that are going on today as well as removing the running boards. New radiator and heater tees this weekend as well as a full detail. Pictures to come.

UPDATE: I picked up a radiator, heater tees and some hoses during Black Friday to avoid any tragedies. The radiator was long overdue and the heater tees crumbled in my hands like chalk. I detailed the interior/exterior, new windshield, 18” Lexus wheels, and removed the running boards.

I have some vinyl wrap for the side trim coming next week and a reman wood/leather steering wheel arriving in the mail today.

My wife wants to kill me but damn I love this thing so much.
