NWZ - The storm is here
Hi all
Thought I’d share my epic journey/story all for the love of picking up my first time 100 and then a race against the clock to get home before Cyclone Hilda possibly hit
So it all started out after a frustrating day when I was filling up the 80s and saw the awful fuel consumption I had just gone through... frustrated I searched the for sale ads for a diesel version but of course as usual they were all overpriced and way too many miles on the clock.
And then I saw it .... a mint 2001 HZ105 with only 60000miles/100,000kms , a very rare find over here indeed, on average they have about 300k/180miles!
It looked like time had been rewound and we were back in Toyota in 2001 about to purchase new off the ship floor .
Without hesitation I called the fella and bought it. Only prob it was located in Perth , about 1700kms distance.
I booked a flight and flew down , hired a car drive to dealership and picked it up. Next problem I had 17+ hours driving ahead of me in the outback on my own and had to get back before a possible cyclone crossing today .
My gps got me lost and I ended up in the middle of nowhere in the wheat belt, skinny dirt road no streets for miles , no people for miles but the cruiser didn’t panic with her 145L of fuel although I did a bit
. 2 hours detour and I got back to the hwy, phewww
Lucky I had a cruiser , she purred all the way just like a new car should , averaged 9-10L/100km or 30mpg, through some thunderstorms , dodged about 100 kangaroos and cows through the night and made it with the cyclone just to our north the next day at noon
