Moving to the bed, you can see the other parts I ordered from AWL_Tech. Neat little hatches for the back. That's where the batteries will live. (I said that back then anyway...)

In the end, Jake ended up spending over 50% of his bodywork time on the bed. It had been loose for a long time. Maybe decades.

There wasn't much rust, however, battered and abused, it took a lot of time to bend, twist, and hammer her to exactly the right shape again. The long lines made it important to get it just right.

Then one magical day last year, I showed up at the shop, and we had paint!

Genuine Toyota 532 Baby Sh** Mustard Yellow!

(I say genuine, but it isn't a single stage acrylic. Purists may cringe, but I went with a modern two stage. I'm very happy with the result.)

Jake started with the inside of the tub.

I drooled over it for 5 minutes.
Then I ran my fingers through the slippery drool.
Then he told me to go away.

Bringing the electrical and mechanical back together.

I made the call at this time...Gulp...to install an AC system.

Not as easy as you might think. Steve figured out a very elegant compromise for such a tiny space, made because I wanted to keep the stock heater.

Shawn did the compressor mount fabrication. Both did great work.
