We're almost ready to tear it all apart again for paint.
Almost ready, but we had to buy some new parts.

I found the new Toyota emblem in the junkyard.
Just the right size!
Decision time.

Don't worry, tacky as it may be, she wears the mylar today.

Looks great, but then I'm partial to mustard.

The new setup will have a dual battery system with both batteries mounted in the rear. This is the switch, and a shut off for power to the winch.

There are more modern systems I know. I just like the feel of big heavy duty copper switches. I had a similar config on my FJ40, and it worked out very well.

(There were some issues in this area that came up later. Stay tuned.)

This is one of the few HJ47's that I'm ok with going overseas. Ordinarily I get a little sad when I see so many J4's heading to the US and South Africa but this is a cool build. Nice truck, you deserve it mate.

I had a '47 with a H55F, it was so much better to drive. It brings a sense of modernity to such an ancient design!

You planning on fitting A/C? I imagine Florida would be nice and muggy, much like most of Queensland.

I'm leaving off a lot of pics, but I can always find one if someone has a specific question.

Paint prep next.

Scrape the tar. Look for bad spots. (Pans were really good with just a couple of exceptions.)

Maybe think about a new exhaust system...
It's only money right?

What was in the background on rockwells? Wow five pages at once.

All of the big pieces head off for media blasting. The new faded yellow color you see is primer. We can now see some repairs that were made in the past.

It looks like the girl had some work done in the past. (I kinda knew this already, but now we can see the details.) Whoever did the work did a fair job I guess. Maybe a bit heavy on the filler.

Jake is the body and paint man that took care of me through this part of the project. I gave him what he needed and stood back and let him do his thing. It was a good decision.
