With the inside done it was time to get going on the outside. I orded and fitted without any modifications the better driving lights.
I gave up trying to buy lights of off e-bay so I painted my front indicator lenses white.

As luck would have it, my Dad was invited buy a old friend who worked for Cat to go over to the U.S and watch the Cat Racing team in the Nascar racing. So I orded a set of these for him to bring back.

I saw on Mud a realy nice set of fender flairs for sale ''Pocket flairs" I had to have them. So I orded a set from Brett and had them here in a few weeks. What I did before I had the car painted is I fitted them then removed them and drilled and fitted pop nuts. Thought it was a better way of mounting them than the self tapper supplied. (ONLY did it because I was going to paint it. And the paint would seal the pop nuts in from water and rust starting.)

I then looked for some nice bolts and settled on these. Orded them from Cat they are used to hold clips on the glass on there 428E backhoe loaders.

O.K so she was now back together new engine running great, Fridge/ ice maker working like a charm. No rattles and squeeks and every thing working like a new car. This is a pic with the old 4'' lift and 35'' wheels. I kept the old set up in so I could test for noises and take it around town for windscreen to be fitted and aircon to be gassed.

I also orded new V.X ltd side mouldings from Toyota. Again 4 weeks and they where here from Japan. I also fitted new weather strips all black like a V.X should be. The only one that is not brand new was the driver side Toyota said its discontinued.

Wow! What an impressive job. Way to do it right. Wish I had the time, space, money, etc to do that with my old LC. I get inspiration from you guys that go all-out! Keep up the good work and the pictures.

My beadlocks are just for show they are fakes. What I did is have aluminium rings laser cut. Then welded to the OEM rims.
The 2 ring which then bolts onto the welded ring is polished and clear coated. Also had the TRD cut out and stuck reflector tape between them.

Its very time consuming to bolt them together.

I don't care that they're fake. I really dislike the way the factory wheels come out to the lip. This hides that and makes them look infinitely better in my opinion.

After testing and making sure the assemble went together right. It was time for the diffs to come out. I started on the front, stripping and sandblasting the housings. I also stripped down the brake callipers and replaced all seals front and back. All the bolts were re electro plated. Then replacing all seals and fitting a set of Nitro 5,29. And a set of Nitro C.V,s. While it was open I decided to replace the A.R.B locker seals too. NO THANKS to our 4x4 Mega world here in South Africa who supplied me the lockers and at least 10 sets of OME suspension over the years, had no stock of the most common seals need for these locker. With out a date on when there stock would arrive I had to import a set from Aus myself.

Nicely Done !! All new hardware on the axle as well ?

After a long time looking around. I settled for the Superior Engineering 6" lift. I liked the way they reinvented the radius arms. And the proof is there when is comes to the massive front wheel travel.

4'' and 35'' wheels in the back. 6'' and 38'' wheels in the front.

There was two thing I picked up at the rear. The one was inside the handbrake the backing plate had rusted and swollen the housing until it rubbed on the rear wheel hub. After sand blasting the rust out, I drilled a hole from the back (if you go under your truck and look at the backing plate) to allow water and dirt to run out.

You can see in this pic the bottom of the circle how it worn flat.

The other problem was the sway arm. The earlier models are thinner than my 1998. The threaded holes on the brackets on the diff housing are
closer together. So I had to use the Farm Trucks one. The difference in handling is noticeable so I will have to make a plan to get the original to fit.

6'' front and back 38" on.

I made mine so it can fold down if I get into thick bush or need to clear a roof. Or for open road travel. You need to save as much fuel as you can with a carb. Heard today on the radio South Africans will gain the most in the world from the oil price coming down. In terms of our petrol price coming down. Going to fill mine tonight 180lts :steer:.

I ran the wires inside my snorkel which gives it a nice neat finish.

My 80 had quite a bland key so I gave it a face lift. my wife had a 120 Prado that kept braking keys so I used the old bits and made this.
