Rod Ends

www.rodendsupply.com

I bought my ends there and they are very helpful and MUCH cheaper than local shops around here.

Nice Shocks

Those look nice. I'm glad I went with cheapo pro comps. My steering arms have dented both shock bodies. I need to go in a fix, but I don't want to think about it right now.

I likey the shocks.

ahhh.....these aren't just any 'ol shock....they are Air Shocks(kinda like coil-overs w/o the need for coils) This means I don't have to use ANY coils for my suspension(I had planned on using the FJ-80 coils)

Jam Nuts------------------------$30
Link Tabs and Brackets--------$160
Chassis wiring harness--------$100(bought truck with it :D )
Frame---------------------------$100(not using it now)

11-Currie Johnny Joints 2-5/8" mounting width 1-1/4x12 forged stud
11-1-1/4x12 nuts
2-axle link mounts
2-upper link mounts
2-lower frame link mounts
2-bushings for upper 3-link wishbone
1-outrageous bill :pat:
I also brought the truck cab/frame up into the shop and started the cleaning of the frame so I can mount my brackets. I have been toying with the idea of running a 3.4L and coils up front as opposed to air shox and a 2.7, whatcha think?

go for the gusto man, put in a 1uz or 2uz V8. Little bit more difficult but the badass factor is through the roof.

I actually had to go 4" higher than I am in these pics(31" to bottom of frame rail is still pretty low for 38's)

The X-member will be notched for d-shaft clearance

Upper tri- 3link monting brackets(tacked in place)

lower link mount(driver side...I see grinding that needs to be finished)

As far as powerplant's go...I'm going w/ a 3.4L and coils up front....the V-8 is too heavy

actually the 1uz is an aluminum block and only wieghs a c hair more than the 2.7 four banger. Not that I'm trying to steer you away from the 3.4, it deffenitly is a great motor. I just have some sick infatuation with the 1uz. Keep up the good work, looks like its going to be quite the capable trail rig.

It makes mock up so easy...think about it-tubing cost 9.00 a foot(for what I'm using) PVC conduit is VERY CHEAP(I'm an electrician) and light :)

Progress 5/18/06

I set my frame height tonight. I am liking 28.5" to the bottom of the frame rail. I have roughly 6" up travel (rear). I cut the old shock hoops out from under the front end and ground the slag off. I determined that I am probably going to need to reinforce the front end(due to the coils). But since I am dovetailing the front clip I think that I'll just cut the inner fenders completely out and rebuild it with tubing. Attach the fenders/hood/winch/grill/headlights and all my fender mounted engine components to the tubing(after writing all that down it sure seems like alot of work) I want to put a stinger on there too.

I'm gonna go and pick up my wheels tomorrow... :) I got 5 H1 DBL beadlocks that have been sandblasted and por'd for $225! HA! I am gonna order some 6lug centers in a day or two.
I got some prices on tires today:
38x12.5x16.5 TSL 6ply 188ea(no tax shipped)
38x12.5x16.5 TSL SX 196

what ya think?
