I filled up for the second time today since installing the 12HT. I got 18.7 mpg on the first tank. That's mixed town and highway driving on a motor that had zero miles on it. I'm very pleased with this result. Next week I will be driving a lot of highway miles. I'm looking forward to seeing what that mileage will be.

Yesterday I stopped by the body shop to drop off the next load of loose parts. I also got to see the progress on the first parts I left with him about 3 weeks ago. They're not quite finished yet but real close. I happy with his work thus far!

Here is a picture of the parts I left with him yesterday. You can see the pair of fenders, a pair of aprons (laying on the tailgate), the new tailgate (thanks Kevin @awlteq), a pair of NOS doors, the bib and the headache rack. He thinks he can have them done in 2 weeks. Next will be the cab. So after I return from the Mardi Krawl hosted by the La Land Krewsers at Hawk Pride Mtn (this will be my first long distance outing in the 45) I will start taking the truck apart.

I went to Mardi Krawl this weekend and @HENDOG met me at the front gate! We had a great time and even had an opportunity to do some wheelin' together! It was a great event put on by LLK and the weather could not have been better. Several of our club members made the ride as well. We rode the trails at Hawk Pride Mtn OHV, camped and had a great time of fellowship. I even made some new friends. What a terrific weekend!

Mike (this is Chris' brother, with the white FJ60) -

Nice meeting and wheelin' with you this weekend. Hopefully someone got a picture of your 45 loaded up with firewood!

Right back at you Brian! I don't know if anyone got a picture of it or not. It would be nice if they did. I look forward to seeing you out on the trail again soon. Good luck with all of your repairs.

Sampson got one more little work out before I start the tear down. We helped a friend/ club member get his new (to him) 1HZ home today.

So it begins! Fair progress for 8 hours work and only 1 broken bolt.

You know you can run a clutch booster from a HJ61 that's a virtual bolt in?

Almost done with everything my body man is going to need. Does anybody have any helpful hints on how to remove the glass without breaking the glass or destroying the gaskets?

I remember this from when I did my clutch a few weeks ago. From my fsm. Not sure which cruisers were equipped with the clutch boosters, but I assume the diesels. Didn't have one on my FJ60. Works like a brake booster, a little vacuum assist for heavy duty applications.

BJ74 and HJ61. BJ is under the dash and a bit of a PITA to engineer and install. HJ61 is in the engine bay and is a virtual bolt in in a 45 AFAIK.

Thanks Chris and Cult. I do remember seeing this unit in the FSM as well. I'm not sure I need one and I'm real sure I don't have room for it in my engine bay. It would also be difficult/expensive to aquire those parts here in the US.

For the rear and corner glass I lifted the rubber from the inside with a plastic trim panel remover and squirted dish soap all the way around, then used a piece of 1/4" ? possibly 3/8 rope tucked under the rubber on the inside all the way around, taped the glass to the cab on the outside so it didn't slip out and fall, then push it out from the inside, a little at a time, working my way around the edge. Came out rather easy although still a little nerve racking when you are doing it for the first time and knowing how hard the corner pieces are to replace . The front I used the same method but it takes more pressure and the glass broke but it is just laminated glass, needed replacing anyway, cheap and easy, but the rubber was fine. HTH
