Those are nice roads. Glad the results are really paying off.

Highway 3 is a great road. Used to love driving it in the sports cars I had over the years (87 Corolla GTS supercharged and 87 MR2 supercharged) on days when there was less traffic.

I just drove that road yesterday in my mazda5. Good speed for a hot steep hill. Faster than I was going!

I was pretty surprised to be honest. I even passed an empty first gen Tacoma up that hill (must have been the 4 cylinder).

Not trying to hijack but if you're driving a minivan aren't you suppose to drive it like you stole it?

Yeah we did cruise at about 145 kmh the way up to Vernon on the coq, but decided on the #3 for the way back.... Ugg 2lane... Tons of traffic... Lots of heat. It only took 7 hrs to get home so there was little " drive it like you stole it" going on. So my wife hates mini vans and station wagons. Her mazda has 3rd row seats with dual sliding side doors. She only bought it cus I said it can't be a mini van cus it's shorter than you, and it can't be a wagon cus it has sliding doors. She nodded and agreed. It's basically a mini wagon.

What size tank do you have and how long does it last? Do you use 50/50?

Currently I'm just using the windshield washer reservoir (see pictures at beginning of thread). It only holds about 3 liters. My plan was to relocate the pump to the back of my cruiser and install a large 20 litre tank back there. I've been sort of reluctant to do that though, as I think it'll just be in the way. Thought about putting a tank under the truck next to the frame on the left side too, but that would be quite a bit of work.

I'm running a D04 nozzle which is spec'ed at 250ml/min. Not sure what pressure that flow is rated at. Anyhow, when the pump was turned right up, I could burn through the 3litres in about 8-10min of full duty cycle injection. Now that I've turned the pump down, the reservoir seems to last about three times longer. (sort of makes sense, as I've gone from probably 300psi down to 100psi).

I started with 50/50, but was having clearly audible per-detonation issues (the methanol was igniting before diesel injection). I found I had to reduce the ratio to 30/70 meth/water before that problem went away. At this ratio the water absorbs enough heat that the methanol does not ignite until diesel injection (or so I theorize). This will be different for every diesel engine, and is probably a function of compression ratio/boost/temps etc.

I'm thinking I may just start running straight water. Really with the 2lte what I need to focus on is keeping the head from getting too hot, and not obsessing with more horsepower. The water turning to steam during the compression stroke is what really reduces the cylinder temps.
