if someone cuts in front of you and locks up the brakes the system beeps and flashes red on the screen and then slams on the brakes if you don't...

Yikes. I'd be a turnin' that feature off...

Could be a good thing if your distracted. Does your wife ever say, "Honey look at this" when you are backing out of a parking spot?

It is overridden if you press on the gas.
Tested it on the highway, and it brakes, but if you punch the gas it lets you.
Love that system, I thought I would not like it, but it's awesome for long trips.

I find it useful after initial skepticism. If the vehicle you are following slows it slows you. And does so imperceptibly. It dawns on you that your pace dropped 10 mph. If it brakes gently the tail lights on the icon in display in front of the steering wheel light up. A touch gratuitous, but it made me smile. It almost all cases I have concluded that Toyota's thinking on systems is really top notch. If I am fully alert could I do better than the system. Yes, of course. Am I always fully alert. Sadly, no.

The only catch is one day I was in a conversation with my passenger, I had the system on, I did not realize I was behind a slow poke, so I ended up at about 15MPH slower than the speed limit for about an hour.

Must've been a good conversation.

I had same cruise control system on my Sequoia platinum. After using it for a while, I did come to love it.

So I've made a few more mods to the LC. Finally got the RW wheels back from PC'ing and had the 285/70/17 KO2's mounted. Once they were on, it actually looked like a truck and not some bling machine! Also put the Escape Gear seat covers on the front passenger seat and center console cover because my wife likes to drive around with her dog riding shotgun.

I am looking at a TJM bumper for the front of my 200, the fit and finish seems to be better than the ARB.

I wish my wheels were all black like yours, that is a good look.

Take a look @Romer and his rig. He has the same rims, I believe, and they're all black. That way you could get a good feel if you really wanted all black. For what it's worth, his look very good.

OP, the 200 looks great! Question, did you powder coat the bead lock nuts red? If so, how do they hold up to a hex nut?

Yup, I have the same wheel. Powder coated them black and bought the TRD Pro Caps and It is the same as the very expensive TRD Pro Rim

on the black grill, did you have to do anything special for the radar sensor, or did you just remove it? Do you have a link to the Amazon Grill? Any modifications required?

Looks awesome

Same question here, love the grill and looking for one that takes the radar & Camera.

I use the radar and camera far too much to remove but that TOYOTA on the grill looks great. It would be nice if there was an aftermarket radar cover that was just black. I believe it's just a composite cover to allow wave pass through.

Thank you sir. The bead lock torx bolts were ceracoated in Marine Red. The ceracoat is applied thin enough that it did not change tolerances and the T25 torx head fits nice and snug.

Nothing special on the radar speed sensor. It is not connected to the factory grill and did not interfere with the aftermarket grill in any way. As for modifications required, I used a dremel to cut a snug hole for the front facing camera. Slid it in and it hasn't moved since. I'll fab a more secure bracket someday. The only other thing was the factory grill has a gasket running across the top of it that seals with the hood. The gasket is attached to the grill via T clips pressed in holes on the grill. I removed the gasket and laid a piece of blue painters tape across where the gasket runs and marked where all the factory holes were. Transferred the tape to the aftermarket grill, drilled new holes, installed gasket, reinstalled grill. Total project took about 1 hour.

The grill was purchased on Amazon and is twice as much as the same grill on flebay. I would've purchased the flabby one had I known it would work. By buying from Amazon, I knew I could return it. Now that I was the guinea pig, and you all know the grill works, I would recommend just buying the flabby grill for $85.

Thanks!, my camera has already been relocated to my ARB Bumper. So you are saying the Radr sits behind the grill and replacing it with this one has no effect on it? Have you tried it out

The speed radar does in fact sit behind the factory grill and is not attached to the grill in any way, shape or form. I have not tried it out, before or after the mod. I've never used it and don't know if I intend to. I suppose I can go try it out so I can report back to you guys but I will not have any frame of reference since I never used it before the mod.

The way it works if you are in Cruise Control and enable the radar, it will keep tabs of the car in front of you and slow down if they do once you have achieved the desired gap. You know its working if you are cruising at 70 and you come behind a car going slower and you slow down and keep pace and distance. Once you move into the other lane if no one is ahead of you it will resume the set cruise speed

I'll get it out sometime and give it a try. Mostly driven on surface streets by my wife. I drive a company car to and from work in SoCal traffic. Not sure I want to try it on my morning commute! We've got two summer adventures coming up, one to Park City and another to Sun Valley, I'll get a lot of freeway driving and cruise control use then.

An update to numerous questions asked ref whether of not the radar speed sensor still worked after changing out my grill. I just returned from a 8 day trip to my future retirement home, Park City, UT. While driving there and back, I used the Cruise Control exclusively and the radar speed sensor worked perfect! There were two occasions when the alarm sounded and the truck decelerated quickly as I was passing a bright white tractor trailer. It was in the early morning when the sun was rising and reflecting off the side of the truck and although I don't know if this was the cause, it is the only thing I can think of that would have initiated the safety feature to engage. I passed numerous other tractor trailers and vehicles with no issues. As stated above, the radar speed sensor is activated when you use your cruise control. When approaching a vehicle in your lane moving slower then your set speed, the LC will adjust speed and keep a specified safe distance until the vehicle in your way moves!

This trip was the first time I really got "behind the wheel time" with the new LC. Over all impressions are positive! The seat comfort is better then my Tundra CM Limited on long trips. I averaged 81 mph over the 669 miles there and 70 mph on the way back (hit traffic as soon as I got to Vegas and it was heavy all the way to OC). Average MPG for the trip was 11.7. About the same as my Tundra. Not bad considering I have a heavy foot and often times am cruising at 90-100mph.

The LC handled great at the speeds I was running at. The suspension was a little bumpier then my King equipped Mid Travel Stage II Tundra but I expected that. I look forward to tightening that up with the addition of new suspension, likely BP51's.

The KO2's are quiet! A definite improvement over the KO's. I'll be putting a set on my Tundra as soon as the KO's on it are done.

Upon returning, I went to my local Stealership for the final Toyota Care service. I'm at 21k and wanted to get the oil changed and tires rotated before driving to Sun Valley, ID this Friday. Found out that Toyota Care expires after 2 years! This LC was originally purchased 4-14. Although we didn't get it until 5-16 with 15K on the odometer. So the Stealership wanted $180+tax for a synthetic oil change. I left and headed to Walmart for two 5qt jigs of 0W-20 Mobil 1 = $44. Already have a case of Toyota filters for use on the Tundra. Returned home and changed the oil and rotated tires myself. Identical to the Tundra except there is a few more bolts to deal with on the skid plate. I do like that it is a two piece skid vs. the one large plate like the Tundra had (I no longer have a factory skid on the Tundra. It was replaced with a Bud Built that is equipped with an access port for the filter and drain valve). Removing only the drivers side half makes it lighter to deal with.

One thing I found when changing the oil is that the Stealership Lube Tech that last changed the oil (Dublin, CA Toyota) failed to install the small O-ring that is on the oil filter bolt! Surprised there was no leakage. Another reason I choose to do the majority of my own service.

Also added my Fumoto drain valve while I was at it.

Packing up and off on the next family adventure in 3 days...
