It's the most wonderful time of the year.........

Finished painting the 40 using Cruiser Corps cans of freeborn red. Did a little sanding beforehand with 600 grit on the existing paint job, then 1200 grit. The back half from rockers back was painted when my cousin did the rust repairs. I painted the fenders, cowl, aprons, hood, and windshield frame. Turned out decent considering my lack of tools, skills, and using my garage!

Wow that color does look nice! Seems a little whiter than Cygnus but I'm no purist so not totally sure. Have you heard anything about durability? I see the paint says for indoor use only (assuming you're using it on an appliance as it was designed).

Thanks! It's a fairly "creamy" looking color in person. Fairly close to the Cygnus white. I painted my top last year with Cruiser Corps Cygnus white and it just didn't paint very well. I tried 3 different cans and all looked pretty crappy. Saw another guy on the forum use the epoxy and it looked fantastic and he said it laid down very well. He had read about it on some 57 Chevy forums that folks were painting their entire cars with the epoxy black with good results. His truck, like mine, stays garage kept when not in use, so we are hoping it lasts. Time will tell, but I'm going to spray my top before the end of summer as well.

I bought a quart of PPG single stage in Cygnus white with the hopes of painting bezel and top. Without a compressor can't really do myself. So those cans sure would be a nice option and easy for touch up as needed. I'm curious to see how your top turns out. My car is garaged also. I may just get a can to get the bezel painted for now until I get a chance to do some restoration on the roof.

Check out "cooking with the crockpot" thread to see a top already done.

Painted the top using the appliance epoxy paint in biscuit. Turned out good! Didn't do any sanding or preparing- just painted over the Cygnus white. Then, installed the top and doors.

Nice looks good! I'm hoping to get a new rain gutter before I start on the roof. And I already had bought some nice PPG paint to spray the roof. Did you do anything to the underside? Sorry I should look through your thread again. I'm liking the Linex idea for the underside.

Thanks! I cleaned the underside and used a wire wheel to clean off the old glue and foam. I installed a Cruiser Corps headliner. I wrinkled it a bit in a few spots, so it could look better. But, it was 98 degrees that day and I'd had enough! Linex would probably be easier to do!

Hey, Thanks! Yea I love the Digital dash too!!! I have a tach, which is nice, The speedo finally works!, and it just works so smoothly!! I have no regrets with buying it! I remember looking at your pictures before I got it! I love the Build, keep it up! Yours is coming along really nicely!!
