I realize there's not a huge following here, but I think it's worth mentioning that 25 years ago today Nirvanna changed the music scene forever with the release of the Nevermind album:

A couple of years later, at the height of their popularity and well into Cobain's self destruction, they performed what's arguably one of the most incredible live sets ever recorded:

I'd give just about anything to go back in time and be able to attend that unplugged show. To this day, I still always have that album on every music player/device I own.

Awesome, thanks for posting.

Me too man. The best album I have ever owned. They killed every song, even the ones that weren't there's. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if he lived longer. In some ways I think he would have pulled a Scott Weiland and just detroyed himself slowly, but damn I wish we could have gotten a few more albums. "It's better to burn out than fade away"

Yeah but Pearl Jam bitched slapped them soon after IMO.

You'll get no argument out of me regarding how incredibly badass PJ is...my favorite band of all time.

I was just pointing out that had Cobain not added a "pop" flare to the music evolving from punk rock in the Pacific Northwest, it's entirely possible that we would never be discussing bands like PJ today.

I think both bands needed each other. 2 hands from one body, doing slightly different things to "sell" the genre and kill the hair bands..... But Cobains bluntness and screw the establishment mentality was hair bands death nail.

Timing was everything with Nevermind being so huge bc it was first.

PJ/motherlove bone/green river/ temple of the dog ------ will always beat nirvana for me personally.

Chris and eddie. Dont get no better

Speaking of bad ass unplugged sets...Alice in Chains was also damn good. I actually like many of these versions much better than their EP versions.

I also love Pearl Jam (don't forget Soundgarden @SHUSH) but there is something about Nirvana for me. Everytime I hear a Nirvana song it takes me back to that time...I love the other bands, but there is something about Nirvana that just feels different. Maybe because they were first, or unfinished. Eddie is probably the better artist (Chris outsings all of them) but there is something about Kurt and his real angst and inner torture.

Agree andy. I was only naming the bands jeff and stone used to create PJ and pay homage to andy wood

Spoonman is closely my 2nd favorite song to even flow. Chris definitely has the pipes. I agree curts unfinished business and inner demons made his lyrics haunting.

@fountainhead @AndyO78FJ40

Yall realize if Jeff wasnt recovering from msu almost loosing he would be posting Ratt, Whitesnake, and Warrant. NTTIAWWT

@BMThiker excellent movie to showcase the scene at that time

I remember he did a piece for Rolling Stone and covered the story of assembling the artists and how PJ wrote a blistering song called State of Love and Trust. It's my all time favorite PJ song.

Trust me, @Bodean loves this music too.

That's awesome, Rick; most people don't even know that PJ track. On the "Singles" soundtrack, though, the Pumpkins' Drown was my favorite.
