I had the shop order me a Magnaflow 12288
Sounds more throaty at idle and low revs. Slightly louder in general, but really unnoticeable. No drone at freeway speeds, but then again the tires (Falken WildPeaks) might be drowning out the muffler

Wished you asked earlier, I was at Moon Rocks two weekends ago.
All good dude and I run the same tires as you. I don't find them to be overly loud so would be nice to hear the truck a little more than anything else. Only time I really hear the muffler/engine is when I really hammer it. This was why I loved my old THRUSH Welded muffler on my FJ60.... gave an ever so slight rumble/grumble at idle and nice throaty sound around town and on the freeway but nothing that was obnoxious or overly loud or the like. Have been debating on if I want to order one and have the local shop install for me. Don't really have the time to do myself at the moment, let alone the space.

This is how mine looks like underneath the chassis.
The way you described the THRUSH muffler is very similar to the Magnaflow 12288, I can barely hear the muffler when WOT, more engine noise than muffler. You'll barely notice it with the windows up.

Other than the fact that the Thrush is like $60 max compared to the $100+ of the Magnaflow but I know people that love them regardless.

What does it sound like?
It’s not silent like stock but just sounds like you have a “performance “ exhaust on it. It’s kinda fun but on long drives my wife gets a little annoyed. The muffler shop was actually surprised how it sounded. I like it plus it covers up the small tick in the manifold that we’ve all grown to love.

Noticed my muffler is starting to slightly leak at the seam. Debating between my options. Can just deal with it, maybe try some muffler cement along the seam, or do the right thing and replace with OEM.

Seems like pricing from Partsouq shipped is still less than anywhere in the US. Is this the best option?

This:

Installed mine a few months ago, no difference from OEM imo. Just grind off the internal nib for the mating to output, makes it much easier, Reuse the OEM clamp. Done.

You're going to owe like $250 in duties on top of that just fyi

Mike, Just get the Northeastern one referenced above.
My recommendation every time this comes up. It is good quality, fits perfectly, and is silent.

Thanks for another vote for that Northeasten option, good to know others are running it with success....

Well I don't know.... For now I've concluded that every single part on this vehicle is OEM ( except rear coils ) so If I am going to replace it I will just save up my doll-hairs and get OEM when possible.....

On the flipside, $9 bucks and a tube of JB weld muffler cement seems to be my current solution..... I know its not glamorous nor is this OEM lol but the leak is very small and is like just a long the seam... Cleaned up the rust, pushed some of this goop along the crack and will let it harden. Worst case, it doesn't work and I'm back where I started, seems worth it for now.

Also thought it was interesting to see " Futaba " stamped on my Toyota muffler. Far as I know Futaba makes transmitters and receivers for the RC world.

I was debating whether to replace mine with OEM or Borla stainless about same pricing in 2019. I consulted with CruiserParts and ended up getting entire system from them. The Borla got a throaty sound but quite as stock unless throttle wide open. As a matter of facts it’s quieter than my stock muffler with a hole. Most shops often commented on how nice is the Borla when they work on her. Good luck!

Sweet, thanks for posting info on that Borla system...also jealous of that pretty rust free underside, why did you end up replacing the entire system what was wrong??.....I'm hopeful my band-aid fix will buy me time...The leak was very minor, I wouldn't have even noticed it but I happened to be greasing rear driveshaft on a cold morning when engine was running. Noticed some condensation steam coming from the muffler seam...I suspect the JB weld fix will be good nuff' for now .. If it s***s out then I will re-visit my options

Mike, I brought my LC from Michigan sight unseen on ebay in 2016 to replace an Explorer so definitely not rust free. However after several years I realized that these 100 series are keepers. I think I got her just in time to save her, in 2022 I ordered a new Bronco but after a month I knew the LC will outlive the Bronco. So sold the Bronco and I slowly changing bits and pieces here and there. Took a chance on the Borla but I think the Borla will outlive the OEM too especially if you’re in the rust belt. She passed smog but with a 4” dia. hole in the muffler but too big to patch, could just drive her as is. But then needing O2 sensors and one thing I’ve learned is that all these parts are not going to get any cheaper so bite the bullet the new exhaust system. So far holding up well for 6 years. Borla is like new although I’m in S Cal lol! When I grease the u joint I noticed the front right sway bar bracket is about to fall off so I changed that using Cruiser bracket and new bushings. I found PartsNext worth while on certain parts so changed all the rear control arms too. Judging from the pictures, yours is in better shape than mine but most recent Bring a Trailer just sold a clean 07 for $71k. Makes me happy that mine with 200k was just a $7k purchase on ebay 10 years ago. Owned a lot of cars but the LC is special indeed.
