Mud caves

Has any one went out to the mud caves lately? I was thinking of maybe taking a day trip out this weekend. Is it still worth the drive?

I was out there last year and couldn't find them. Either my memory failed me or they finally collapsed.

Its been awhile since I've been there. They are a little scary to crall in. Always worried about them colapsing.

Been a couple years but they are awesome! Kinda hard to miss, parking across the way and a hole in the side of the mountain. Bring some reallllly bright lights.

I might be up for a trip out there... Been 20 years at least since I've been there.
Do be careful in and around AND above the mud caves area. A few years back a guy went missing for nearly a month before being located.

Sorry I didn't go. I wish i k ew uou had kids. It was going to be my self 8 year old daughter and dog. Then I started thinking dam I don't know any body. With only two people going anything could happen in the middle of the desert. I guess it's the sign of the times. Am I crazy for thinking like that?

Not at all, you have a family to consider. On weekends there is traffic out there so you probably wouldn't be alone. If you do venture out alone make sure someone knows where you're going and your ETA back, in writing/text/ voicemail. Just telling someone as you bolt out the door is not a good idea.

was quite the trek to get out, 90% on road driving, then just about 8mi of minor washboard and rutted out packed dirt. Not a big deal at all.saw several subies out there.
