Well,

What can I say. That was at the very least an adventure. I'm glad everyone made it down before the temperature dropped below zero and we needed a dogsled team to get down. Sopel, I owe you a steak dinner for taking my young ones down while we got everyone turned around. You name the spot and we’ll meet you there and pick up the tab. My stress level dropped to zero once I heard you were safely on your way down and the wee ones were fine. If thats an easy family run I will leave the kids at home when you all go out for the technical trails. Despite the temporary stranding on the side of a snow covered mountain I found you all to be a great group and had fun.

Thanks for the adventure

Dave, by chance were your refering to this?

The views and autumn leafs are worth the trip and the trails are not difficult.

I showed my wife and daughters the pics and vids, which I will post up soon, and they were glad that they and the dog stayed home. My son loved the whole trip. Kim, thanks for taking him down out of the snow. He was pretty glad to see his dad didn't slip off the side of the mountain.

It was a great day now that I am well away from those snow covered grades. I learned a lot about the capability of the Safari and my tires. However, I can think of better places to learn. Next time if there is a hint of snow, I will have chains in the back - just incase. Glad everyone made it down without any accidents. I wasn't too sure that would be the case when those of us who made the top started back down..
BTW, I think the old Safari proved herself worthy to wheel with Cruisers.:grinpimp:

I turned around at the top as well and slid about 15' on the way down. I had to use the E brake to stop the rear end from passing the front end. It was a good trial run for the new 80. The lockers work well and its more comfortable than the old defender. I'm still thinking about going out next weekend ....maby some LOW muddy trails if I can find some good ones.

Sounds like some tense moments on the trail. Always feels good to hit a gravel road after sliding around in the snow. Now lets see some pics. Pls

Mrs bj70_guy came out for her first real wheeling day today. You know, easy scenic daytrip...

I had fun. And now at least I can say I wheeled in 2007! I *think* that may have been the first time the hubs had been locked since River Shiver...06! Oh, the shame of it all!
This was the turn around point. It's steeper and slicker than it looks.

Dave, we were really feeling for you guys. That was a tough situation to be in.
It was nice to meet and wheel with a few new faces. Sorry I never got to talk to you, Canuck Safari.
This was also my first time wheeling with ham radio on board. It kicks butt! Really nice when the cb goes static-y to grab the VHF and have clear communications. Get on it you guys, it's worth it!

And for those us that didn't get a chance to get to the top of the mountain, we made do...

John, you're welcome.

What an interesting day. A nice drive turned into a real pickle! I, too, learned a lot about the capabilities of this particular vehicle. Yes, there are easier and less stressful places to learn but...

I'm glad everyone made it down.

Gary leading the way.

Cool, you're using one of those portable traction devices. Are the red and blue coloured ones best? How well does the remote control work? Do they come in larger sizes?

the problem looks like the snow was heated and melted by going up , i can imagine that going back down was quite fun , i think even a set of cheap wire rope chains would realy help in a situation like this . i wish i would have been able to head out my 3 year old would of had a blast .

There was a lot of shovelling done so the pictures are deceiving. The snow was compacting with each vehicle travelling over it and turning it into ice, which made the descent spooky.
