A couple more shots. There are a few scuff marks on the bronzy, coppery, coloured dial, so I took it down to Super Crappy Auto this afternoon looking for a rattle can to match.....no joy, not evening close. So I rang Aisin in Melbourne. I spoke to a really nice bloke who told me that the hubs are made in Japan. But he gave me some advice, "If I was you, I'd just go down to Super Crap and see if they have anything." Hopefully, the auto paint bloke can come up with something. The photo with the parts spread out pretty well shows the order of how it is meant to go back together.

A good thing about posting images on the Mud forum, is that I should always be able to access them. I'm up to about 4500 images and last year my wife accidentally spilt a glass wine onto the computer. The computer died instantly, the hard drive containing the images was harvested and implanted into the new computer, but the images are no longer in any meaningful of chronological order.

When I rebuilt my hubs I used a Copper color of the shelf at my local parts store. It's not a match but I liked the end result.

another 47! can't believe I've missed this, looks like you do some nice work, keep it up. oh and hubs are messy things aren't they? at least yours still have some grease in them; mine had turned into some sorta gluey liquid stuff. enjoy you cruiser mate, it's well worth the time and effort in the end.

G'day Indestructible 47, You are right, those hubs are bloody messy. I went through, rag after rag after rag, paper towel, plastic bags. I still have to degrease the hubs and the rest of the stuff.

Killin it!

Well, I picked up the chassis after work on Friday, along with a box of miscellaneous bits and pieces. I mixed up some epoxy primer and then fashioned myself a primitive sort of inner chassis painting device, by cutting up a sponge and wrapping some coat hanger wire around it. It worked okay for a while...............then what nasty chemicals they use in the epoxy started to corrode the sponge and then the latex gloves I was wearing. I spent half and hour so this morning picked little bits of dry sponge out of the chassis. Messy job, but hopefully no more rust.

I'm not sure what is going on. Generally, whenever I need to paint something outside a storm hits with rain coming in sideways and gale force winds. This morning I dragged the chassis outside, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and I managed to get a couple of coats of epoxy onto the chassis. Epoxy is good. Toxic but good. I think I've killed every tree for a couple of miles and cows in the paddock next to my shed started staggering around and falling over.........but at least my chassis isn't going rust.
