Has to, to some degree. I already see some good nuggets that offer more clarity than the FSM. Got a meter today, I’ll start back over tomorrow.

The whole distributor, wires and plugs are new (150 miles or so) so I’m assuming they’re good but I’m going to check everything.

No dice. Well, with caveats.

I double checked spark just to make sure I didn’t start down a rabbit hole with no rabbits. No spark.

Primary coil resistance good, middle of the band.

Secondary coil resistance good, middle of band.

No visually apparent issues with ground, mounted fine.

Caveat - I have no idea how to “inspect pickup coil resistance.” Another part of the FSM that’s great so long as you’re a Toyota trained master technician.

This is explained in the FSM as well as the troubleshooting document I wrote.
You're checking resistance across the 2 pick up coils in the distributor.

Had to skip town for an overseas trip, picking back up here. I have no idea what this is or where to find it.

Just to tie this up n case it helps anyone searching later.

None of this was making sense. I started getting readings that showed good spark. So I read more, and looked for trends. Jonheld mentions “air” maybe more than anything…so I started over.

It was air. Nothing appeared disconnected but I physically checked and confirmed everything was connected/clamped/etc.

Fired up fine.

If your 3FE gets weird? Air.
